How to Shred Chicken

How to shred chicken fast so you can get more meal prep recipes done in less time!


  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • Salt & black pepper, for seasoning
  • Two tablespoons olive oil
  • 3/41 cup chicken broth


  1. Generously season the chicken with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken, cook for 5 minutes on one side and flip.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and cover with the skillet lid. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165F for breasts and 175F for thighs.
  4. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside onto a plate. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Using your hands, 2 forks, or a hand-mixer, shred the chicken to desired texture.
  6. Use chicken as desired or freeze in storage containers for up to 2 months.
