I learned a long time ago that family and friends will not make or break your business. It was rule #2 in the direct selling company handbook. When people ‘joined’ the MLM company and said “oh, I have lots of friends and family that will be buying products from me!!” I hated shattering their pretty picture with the facts: friends and family will be supportive but will not build momentum and promote your business. YOU are the one who has to work hard to promote YOUR business.
Little did I know that once I started my own company the same rule would apply. I am still amazed at how helpful people I’ve never met in real life have been. Plus, the paid subscribers are giving me great feedback that is helping me grow my business.
Family and friends have been very supportive and while most still wonder why the heck I continue to post recipes some ask if I am still working on selling a container in my store. Now that I am busier than ever and 6 months pregnant I realize that I am going to need help in continuing my momentum. I’ve made a couple changes around here that are helping; like hiring a house cleaner 2x a month, getting ‘stuff’ organized around the house and preparing backpacks, uniforms and lunches the night before. And in my business? Well, that’s another story. Finding another “me” is difficult and haven’t gotten there yet. Mostly, because I spend much of my time writing posts and contributing recipes in other online places that help promote MOMables. I am also a bit of a control and editing freak when it comes to that so letting go is difficult.
For now, meet my long time friend Sue from Motherhood and Me. She is going to be contributing lots of helpful information over at MOMables and I am thrilled to have her. If you are wondering who I entrusted to carry out my message hop on over and find out! Not only have we known each other since HS (although we didn’t hang out back then) I love her writing style… and she’s real. Like, goes through real parenting issues and talks about them.
So in the end, sometimes friends from far away places come to the rescue.

Yeah us! I am beyond excited and honored to be apart of your company and your life again! Whoo-hoo! It is so hard, you work to the bone and at the end of the day it is just you and your “baby”. You work so hard, it shows and that is why people love you and your product. Pile it on me mama I am ready!

great post! I have learned through pushing my boys series that the business is really is MY BABY! No one is going to love it and nurture it the way I do, but yes, there are those people that can sometimes help you in a way you never thought possible. As entrepreneurs, we forget that sometimes we HAVE TO share the load if we want to move to the next step. My husband and sister are big helps in that regard, and I super thankful for that! Continued luck with MOMables! I know it’s giong to be a complete success and welcome to Sue!
