Cook the tortellini following the instructions on the box. If you use fresh tortelleni, make the sauce while you bring the water to a boil. Drain the water and set the tortellini aside.
Make the sauce:
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter, add the minced garlic, and stir to toast it for about a minute. Make sure it doesn’t burn!
Pour in the half and half (or cream) and milk. Stir constantly. Add the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using) and combine. Reduce the heat and continue cooking the sauce for about 5 minutes.
Combine:
Combine the cooked tortellini with the Alfredo sauce. Serve it with additional grated cheese on top.
Notes
No fresh garlic cloves? Use ½ teaspoon of garlic powder.
