Life Work Chocolate Balance

Few things are better than a thin, crunchy piece of dark chocolate bark to press pause on all the things I’m juggling at once on any given day.

Most days, I start my day before dawn to squeeze in as much time for myself as I can before my kids wake up. When I get home from the gym or finish a spin workout at home, I immediately refill my cup of coffee to gather the required superhuman strength to get 3 kids dressed and out the door to their various home-schooled activities.

After drop off, the dog and I head to the Studio and get started with our day –and somedays, it already seems like most of my day has gone by –and it’s only 10:30 am!

Two hours later, Lucas (my dog) starts to pace around the office to let me know that he needs a break, and so do I.

His ten-minute walk around the block turns into a much needed mental break for me as well.

Now seems like a good time for me to grab a snack, and one of my favorites is barkTHINS snacking chocolate. I like the dark chocolate almond the best, it’s the perfect balance of sweet and salty with a bit of crunch.

I was immediately hooked on barkTHINS the first time I tried them, a couple of years ago, when I sat at the airport gate patiently (kind of) waiting for a delayed flight to depart. So of course, after a couple of cups of coffee, the only thing left to do to pass the time in a calm and collected manner at the airport was to eat some much-needed chocolate.

Now, my favorites are the Dark Chocolate Almond with Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt, and the Dark Chocolate Toasted Coconut with Almonds. No matter where I go, I throw some in my purse to instantly connect with people I meet.

Yes, I’m that person that pulls out a bag of chocolate out of her bag in the middle of an intense meeting; and instantly, the mood changes and the conversation carries on. Because really, we could all use a little more chocolate in our lives – especially chocolate that’s made with real, simple ingredients.

And with 9 different varieties, mixing up the snacking routine is never an issue for me – or for my family. Good thing they are all huge fans of chocolate. And chocolate + fruit. And nuts. And cheese…

There are many days that I build an antipasto platter for dinner and at the very end of the meal, everyone is allowed to grab their own piece of barkTHINS. A reward for a well-lived day.

I like to eat them alone, when my husband travels for work and the kids are in bed!
