I made this January the time I plan out how my food will support my health goals for the year. Yes, I know it sounds very cliché, but I’ve committed to running a half-marathon this spring and my first full marathon this fall, so nutrition is at the top of my list!

And while I already love and enjoy my Harvest Bowls and Bakes from the Daily Harvest collections -especially for my office lunches- I’m going to lean on their Smoothies to fuel my race training and give my body the nutrition it needs.

You can read my full review of all their meals, including a cost comparison, here. For this post, I’ll focus in-depth on how smoothies can support your health goals -from fueling your training, recovery, and weight management goals.

Smoothie Benefits for a Healthy Lifestyle

When you’re short on time but want to get a burst of nutrition into a single meal, smoothies are a terrific way to deliver this.

Whether you enjoy fruit-centric smoothies, veggie-centric smoothies, or a combination of both, they can deliver fiber, vitamins, minerals, and macronutrients (carbs + protein + fats) into a single meal.

What I love about Daily Harvest’s Smoothie selection is that I can enjoy a variety of these fruit + veggie combinations and my smoothies never feel repetitive! I also incorporate Daily Harvest Smoothies into days when I’m Intermittent Fasting as a way to get extra nutrition into my eating window.

Are Daily Harvest Smoothies Healthy?

Daily Harvest Smoothies can be part of a healthy lifestyle. They are conveniently packaged, ready-to-blend smoothies built on organic fruits and veggies as well as other nutritious ingredients delivered to your door.

Nutritional information will vary depending on which Smoothie you choose, and with the filter tool on their website, you’ll find it super easy to sort by one that fits your dietary needs.

Eating more fruits and vegetables is linked to better health and longer lifespan, so anything that makes it easier to do that is a step in the right direction towards a healthy lifestyle.

As shown in the chart above, Daily Harvest’s Smoothie collection has an ample variety of flavors with a variety of macro nutritional needs.

Are Smoothies Good Post-Workout?

Smoothies are a terrific way to replenish what you used up during your workouts and fuel your body with the nutrition it needs to achieve your goals.

Are Daily Harvest Smoothies Good After Workouts?

Having a couple of Daily Harvest Smoothies in the freezer allows me to blend something nourishing in under a minute without having to measure any ingredients or make a mess! The result: a delicious snack packed with nutrition after my workout.

Their smoothies are built on organic fruits and vegetables and make an ideal snack after a workout that’s ready in under a minute.

While I often enjoy a smoothie by blending the ingredients included in the cup, I like that I can add my own protein to it for additional benefits, which I especially need after longer endurance runs.

Post Workout Recovery Smoothie from Daily Harvest

When I want to replenish some of the nutrients that I lost during long endurance runs and/or give my body nutrition, a Smoothie from Daily Harvest has become my go-to for a post-workout recovery snack.

Gone are the days when I have freezer-burned frozen fruit bags waiting to be used. Now, I simply grab a pre-measured Daily Harvest Smoothie and blend away.

To replenish potassium levels after an endurance workout, I sometimes use coconut water to blend the Smoothie. And when I want to supplement with protein powder, I simply add a scoop to my blender, and now I have a super-charged recovery smoothie, fast!

Below are two of my favorite smoothies from Daily Harvest collections that pair very well with coconut water and/or vanilla protein:

Carrot + Cinnamon Smoothie from Daily Harvest

Tastes like carrot cake with actual benefits. It combines Vitamin C rich sweet potatoes, Vitamin A rich carrots and major omega-3s to nourish the body from the inside.

I love to add a scoop of vanilla protein to this and feel like I’ve just added the icing on the cake to this already nutritious smoothie that also boasts 15% of my daily potassium and 10% iron. All things that are important for muscle recovery after a workout.

Banana + Almond Smoothie from Daily Harvest

This Smoothie tastes like almond-butter swirled banana bread and it’s one that I can drink as is after an endurance workout since it already contains 15g of protein and 20% RDA of your daily value (896mg).

It’s satiating, has a good ratio of carb/fat/protein, and makes me feel nutritiously rewarded for putting in the work!

Post Workout Smoothies for Weight Loss

Refueling after a workout is just as important for people whose primary health goal is weight loss. Without proper nutrition, the body tends to maintain (plateau) and it’s easy to get discouraged and lose sight of our goals.

One main benefit of smoothies is fiber, which keeps you full longer and helps you hold off from snacking until your next meal. And if convenience is what you’re going for, there’s nothing better than having a healthy smoothie on hand that nourishes your body and supports your lifestyle goals.

Some of my favorite Smoothies that help me maintain my health goals from Daily Harvest include:

Blueberry + Hemp Smoothie from Daily Harvest

Did you know you can get your dose of greens to taste like a blueberry muffin in a cup? With this Smoothie you can!

Nutritiously deceiving, this Smoothie is made with kale and spinach, has vitamins and antioxidants from the blueberries, and is a good source of iron. All of that in just 170 calories.

Chocolate + Blueberry Smoothie from Daily Harvest

When you need a chocolate fix, this Smoothie takes care of it without the guilt. It includes antioxidants from the blueberries and organic cacao, nutrients from the kale and spinach, and a boost of energy from organic maca.

And if its epic taste wasn’t enough, you can feel great about sipping it since it contains 12g of fiber, 35% of your daily iron, and 9g of protein… at just 280cal.

Dragon Fruit + Lychee Smoothie from Daily Harvest

Enjoy a smooth blend of fancy ingredients without having to figure out how to prep them –I’ll admit that I have no clue how to cut both dragon fruit and lychee, but they’re delicious!

This Smoothie is like sipping a strawberry sorbet in the middle of the summer, knowing it’s a good source of antioxidants, fiber, and loads of vitamin C! Feel free to imagine yourself poolside with this lower-calorie and nutritious smoothie that’s just 130cal!

How to Make Daily Harvest Smoothies

Everything you need to make a nourishing smoothie will fit inside the Daily Harvest Smoothie cup! There’s no need to measure. All you need to do is:

  1. Fill the cup with liquid
Use your preferred liquid for smoothies (traditional milk or non-dairy) or even a Daily Harvest Mylk pod + water, and fill your Smoothie cup to the top.
  2. Pour everything in a blender
Pour the contents of the cup, the liquid and the Smoothie ingredients, into your blender and blend until smooth.
  3. Serve
Pour the Smoothie back into the Daily Harvest cup and enjoy. I love that the cup’s lid is also pre-perforated for a straw!

How Much Liquid do You Add to Daily Harvest Smoothie

Believe it or not, there’s no need to measure! You simply fill the Smoothie cup to the top with your preferred liquid and transfer that into your blender jar. The result is always a thick and delicious smoothie without fuss.

My Daily Harvest Smoothie Review

Of course, you don’t have to be “training” for something to incorporate Daily Harvest into your lifestyle. I’ve personally found their Smoothies (and other collections) to be a very helpful hack to help me stick to my health goals.

You can order as few as 6 items and as many as 26 items in a box giving you the flexibility you need to order in the frequency that works best for you! And depending on how much freezer space you have.

Check out this post to read more about their other collections and how I incorporate them into my other meals.

When it comes to smoothies, I do find Daily Harvest to be worth the value because they keep my nutrition in check, cost wise they are comparable to buying a smoothie at the gym or the smoothie place, but they give me the most control over my nutrition and macros for my particular health goals.

To search through all Daily Harvest’s collections for meals that fit your specific nutritional needs, use the “Filter” toggle on the sidebar to sort by dietary preferences.

A special thanks to Daily Harvest for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are 100% my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support my work!
