Best Blenders for Protein Shakes

By Laura Fuentes Updated Jan 6, 2026

In this post, you’ll find my top tested recommendations for the best blender for protein shakes to help you decide which one is right for you!

When it comes to mixing it with your favorite liquids and ingredients, having the right blender for the job can make a huge difference in taste and texture so let’s find the one that suits your needs.

Is a Blender Good for Protein Shakes?

Given the many benefits of protein powder, making a shake is an ideal way to get lots of nutrition. If you just need to blend protein powder + water, you don’t need a blender.

If you want to make a protein shake with other ingredients like fruit, oats, or greens, then a blender is the only way to go!

The blades will emulsify (blend until smooth) the add-ins, liquid, and powder into a cohesive beverage you can sip through a straw. Plus, some of the blenders in this post are single-serve and portable so you can enjoy a shake on the go!

Is It Better to Shake or Blend Protein Powder?

If you’re using protein powder and liquid only, both shaking and blending will work, but make sure your shaker bottle includes a wire whisk ball so the powder is completely dissolved.

However, if you want to add ingredients other than powder and liquid, I have several blender options that would be perfect for you!

Best Overall Protein Shake Blender

The best overall blender is a heavy title to carry, but I have no doubt in recommending the Ninja High-Speed Duo.

Its 1600-watt motor power can power through anything and it’s by far, the most efficient and cost-effective blender on the market.

Favorite Protein Shake Blender Bottle

There’s a reason you’ll find this bottle in just about every gym bag- it’s a classic option for making a quick shake with your favorite protein powder and milk!

If you like to keep things simple, this BlenderBottle is the way to go.

Best Blender for Smoothies with Protein Powder

If your smoothies consist of multi-textured ingredients like leafy greens, frozen fruits, protein powder, liquid, and ice, you’ll need a blender that can leave no tidbits behind.

Other than the Ninja High-Speed Duo, I recommend the one I’ve owned since 2006 and it’s still powering strong and yielding smooth results: a Blendtec.

Best Blender for Protein Shakes with Ice

The Ninja Professional Blender works wonders at blending ice, in fact, it’s one of my favorite hacks for turning protein shakes into a frosty treat during summer months.

The one below has an 1100-watt motor that powers through any ice clumps/cubes, powder, and liquids to create a velvety smooth shake.

Best Portable Blender for Protein Shakes

If you’re always on the go, a portable blender would certainly come in handy. This option proved to be the most practical and easiest to tote in a car, gym bag, or hotel room.

Plus, it was able to blend smaller ice cubes, fresh fruit, and protein powder. Some traces of ice were left behind (as expected) but the fruit did well.

Which Protein Powder Blends the Best?

While trying to find the best protein powders for women, I tested a wide range of options and can safely recommend the ones below as top-notch when it comes to flavor, quality of ingredients, and mixability.

These are the ones I buy myself:

Whey Protein Powders
Naked Whey
Designer’s 100% Whey

Vegan Protein Powders
Vega One
Truvani Plant-Based
