This healthy spinach salad with blueberries is delicious and easy to make. It includes the crunch of broccoli florets, tangy goat cheese, and good-for-you avocado!

Whenever I want to switch my salads up a bit, I skip the lettuce and make this healthy blueberry spinach salad that pairs great with any simple vinaigrette recipe.

Spinach Salad with Blueberries

This Blueberry Spinach Salad recipe has it all: greens, berries, cheese, crunch, creaminess, and a mouth-watering homemade dressing. Yep, this is not another spinach salad; it’s the best you’ll try!

All this goodness comes together in 5 minutes and you can serve it with chicken, fish, or your favorite protein for dinner or enjoy a serving for lunch. It’s healthy, easy to make, and ridiculously tasty. Told ya, best spinach salad ever!

Health Benefits

Popeye taught us that spinach is good for you, but what exactly makes it a super veggie? Spinach is a great source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, especially magnesium, calcium, and iron. Combining spinach with rich vitamin C foods like blueberries and broccoli improves its absorption.

Avocado and nuts add healthy fats and more vitamins and minerals, making this salad one epic meal packed with nutrition in every single bite!

What Goes in a Blueberry Spinach Salad?

Check out the list of ingredients and you’ll know there’s a drool-worthy salad waiting for you! Here’s what this blueberry spinach salad is made of:

  • Baby spinach: the base of this healthy salad.
  • Broccoli florets: chop them small, they add more nutrition and volume.
  • Blueberries: grab a few, rinse, and toss them in!
  • Avocado: improves any salad!
  • Crumbled goat cheese: tangy and creamy! Feta and Cotija make a good swap.
  • Nuts: add chopped nuts, walnuts, or pinenuts for extra nutrition and crunchiness.
  • Dried cranberries: a sweet note that makes this salad even tastier.
  • White Wine Vinaigrette: my favorite dressing for this recipe, but you can drizzle your favorite dressing too.

How to Make a Blueberry Spinach Salad

Is this the easiest salad ever? Probably. Make this Blueberry Spinach Salad come true by following two simple steps:

  1. Combine
Fill a large bowl with all the ingredients except the dressing.
  2. Add the dressing
Drizzle the vinaigrette over your salad and toss to combine. If you’re making this salad ahead, add the dressing and the avocado right before serving. Enjoy!

Toppings and Variations

Even though this recipe is delicious enough as is, there is always room for more toppings! You can add or swap whatever you’d like to make it your own. Add a little variety by adding one or more of these:

  • Spring mix, instead of spinach
  • Feta or Parmesan, instead of goat cheese
  • Chopped pecans
  • Slivered Almonds
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Strawberries or blackberries, instead of blueberries
  • Raisins, instead of dried cranberries
  • Basil leaves
  • Fresh mint
  • Red onion
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Croutons

Best Dressing for Blueberry Spinach Salad

One way I switch up the taste of this salad is by rotating the dressing. This blueberry spinach salad pairs great with my Maple Dijon vinaigrette, the White Wine Vinaigrette, and the Champagne Vinaigrette. Although, you can never go wrong by drizzing a Classic Balsamic Vinaigrette.

Can You Make this Salad Ahead?

Yes! You can assemble this salad a day ahead for a busy weeknight dinner, easy entertaining, or a quick lunch by layering the salad ingredients in a salad bowl, except the avocado and the dressing. Cover it with a lid or plastic wrap and store it in the fridge.

Once you want to enjoy it, dice the avocado and drizzle the dressing right before serving it. This way, you keep the avocado from turning brown and the veggies from getting soggy.

If packing this salad for lunch, add the avocado the very same morning you’ll eat the blueberry spinach salad, and pack the dressing in a small leak-proof container.

What to Serve with Blueberry Spinach Salad

This Blueberry Spinach Salad makes an easy and healthy side dish for chicken dinners, like these tasty Garlic Chicken Thighs or this Lemon Garlic Chicken. You can also serve this salad with pan-seared salmon or these delicious Grilled Beef Kabobs. Yummy!
