Can You Freeze Waffles

Yes! Whether you cook extra or find yourselft with waffle leftovers, you can freeze them! I love waffles for breakfast when I can't seem to shake off the sleepiness. My secret to having waffles on those days is that I actually raid my freezer stash.

I am not a morning person, and sometimes even pouring the batter into the waffle iron is too much. I just dive into my freezer stash and reheat the waffles. I can then enjoy a few moments with my coffee, and breakfast is done!

How to Freeze waffles

With this simple method, you can save time and money, and enjoy an epic breakfast on busy mornings! Here’s how to freeze waffles:

  1. Cook
Cook the waffles and allow them to cool down. To help my waffles cool faster, I place them on a wire rack.
  2. Freeze
Place the waffles on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet keeps them from sticking to each other. Freeze for about 2 hours until fully frozen.
  3. Transfer
I usually use a freezer-safe bag to store my waffles; I can fit 8 waffles in a gallon-size freezer bag. I squeeze out as much air as possible and double-bag the waffles to prevent freezer burn. You can use a container instead.

How Long do Waffles Stay Good in the Freezer

If you store waffles properly, they stay good in the freezer for up to 3 months. I always tag the zip bag or container with the date, just in case!

How to Reheat Frozen Waffles

You can reheat frozen waffles in the microwave, the toaster, or the oven. While the microwave is the fastest method, I like to reheat my waffles in the toaster or the oven to keep them crispy! If using the oven, make sure not to overheating them, or they’ll dry out.
