The secret to microwave pancakes is in the method, so get ready to learn how to cook up an epic stack today!

Can You Microwave Pancake Batter
I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical whether or not pancakes would turn out in the microwave and after testing this recipe and my air fryer pancakes for my trend-obsessed kid, I’m here to confirm it works!
If you’re going to be using the microwave on repeat, then I’d say that the inexpensive silicone molds are worth having. If this is a one-time thing, use a microwave-safe bowl.
Are They Healthy?
These pancakes are as healthy as the pancake batter you use. Below I share this method using traditional pancake mix; however, for a healthier option, you can make 3-ingredient pancakes and follow the method.

What You Need
You’ll find the ingredient amounts in the recipe card below; however, a few notes on them here:
- Pancake mix: using a complete pancake mix (mix + water) is the simplest way to go because you can adjust the amount of batter you make.
- Liquid: water or milk, whatever your mix calls for.
- Silicone mold: an inexpensive purchase that yields the best microwave pancakes every time. Otherwise, use a microwave-safe Pyrex dish or bowl.

How to Microwave Pancakes
Full directions are in the recipe card but some helpful tips when making these include:
- Mix the batter
Pancake batter will keep in the fridge for a while so don’t worry if you have too much. Use your favorite recipe. - Grease
I recommend spraying the silicone molds or microwave-safe bowl or dish. This makes it easier to release the pancakes and prevent them from breaking. - Cook
Cook on high power for 60 to 90 seconds. Less powerful microwaves might need additional cooking time, in 15-second increments. - Serve
Gently lift the pancakes out of the mold or dish. Stack them high and enjoy with some crispy microwaved bacon!

How Long to Microwave Pancakes
It typically takes 60 to 90 seconds for pancakes to be fully cooked in the microwave. You know they’re done when the middles are puffy and no longer wet.
Do You Need to Flip Them?
One plus side of cooking pancakes in the microwave is that they don’t need to be flipped!

Using Homemade Pancake Batter
Whip up a quick microwave pancake batter by mixing ½ cup flour, 2 teaspoons sugar, ½ teaspoon baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Then, add ½ cup whole milk, 1 tablespoon melted butter, and a splash of vanilla extract. Mix well to combine and you’ve got pancake batter!
How to Reheat Pancakes in the Microwave
Reheating leftover pancakes in the microwave yields denser and drier pancakes. To prevent this, you can moisten a paper towel and reheat it for 30 seconds.
Fluffy Microwave Pancakes

Ingredients
- 1 cup pancake mix
- ⅔ cup water
Instructions
Make the batter:
- If using a pancake mix, you can use a large bowl or batter shaker bottle, to combine the mix and water. If your pancake mix calls for eggs, butter, and milk, I recommend using a bowl so you can combine the ingredients well.
Make the pancakes:
- Place the silicone pancake molds on a plate. Spraying the molds makes it easier to lift and release the pancakes. Fill each circle with batter halfway, with no more than ⅓ cup inside each.
- Microwave for 60 to 90 seconds, depending on the microwave strength. The tops should be fully cooked. If not, add cooking time in 15-second increments until they’re nice and fluffy.
- Remove the plate with the silicone mold onto the counter and flip it over while folding them over to release the pancakes from the mold.
Serve:
- Serve the pancakes with your favorite toppings and syrup.
Storage:
- Leftover pancakes or batter can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheating the pancakes is not recommended because the texture changes -they get chewy. It’s best to make extra batter and cook it as needed.
