These Rudolph the reindeer pancakes make a fun holiday breakfast that’s easy to make.

Rudolph Pancakes
When my kids were younger, I took advantage of every holiday to make their breakfast special, and these Rudolph pancakes were always a hit! Santa pancakes and Grinch pancakes were close seconds.
Use my recipe to make the pancakes from scratch or your favorite mix. Really, all you need to do is cook them and let the kids assemble the rendeer faces.
How to Make Reindeer Pancakes
Here’s what you need to know about making these:
- Mix the ingredients to make pancake batter. Use my recipe or mix up a batch of pancake mix.
- Prep the fruit and ingredients for the eyes, antlers, and nose. Can’t forget about the red nose!
- Cook the batter into large and small pancakes, about 6 of each. One for the base of the face, another for the base of the nose.
- Assemble the renderers by layering the small pancake over the large one, then letting the kids arrange the fruit and build the face.
Other Reindeer Decorating Ideas
Don’t have all the fruit shown in the photo? No problem. Here are swaps to decorate:
- Bacon or pretzels for the antlers
- Whipped cream dots, raisins, or chocolate chips for eye balls
- Strawberry, cherry, or cranberry for the nose

Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder, aluminum-free
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 ½ cups milk, any
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, optional
- Banana slices, blueberries or chocolate chips, raspberries or strawberries, clementine wedges, for the face, eyes, and antlers
Instructions
Make the batter:
- In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the middle and pour in the milk, egg, butter, and vanilla extract. Break up the egg first with a fork, and then begin mixing it with the flour, working from the outside of the bowl in, until just combined and the batter is mostly smooth.
Cook the pancakes:
- Heat a non-stick griddle or large pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, grease, spray, or melt butter on the hot surface. When using an electric griddle, heat it somewhere between 300 and 350F.
- Immediately, pour ¼ cup of pancake batter onto the greased pan to make the large circle for the reindeer face. Then, pour a smaller, 2-tablespoon-sized amount of batter to make the top pancake for the nose. Cook the pancakes for about 2 minutes per side. Remove the pancakes from the pan onto a plate and keep them warm while you cook the rest of the batter. Make six large and six small circles.
Assemble the reindeers:
- Peel and slice a banana. Peel and separate the wedges from a couple of clementines (cuties).
- Stack a small pancake on top of the large one, and then make the face and antlers by arranging the fruit. Use blueberries or chocolate chips for the eye balls, and a raspberry or strawberry as the red nose.
Notes
Since pancake batter naturally has a mild, neutral flavor, I recommend using aluminum-free baking powder.
