Making French toast in the air fryer is a total game-changer. It’s quick, mess-free, and delivers those crispy edges and fluffy middles every time!

French Toast in the Air Fryer
My youngest mastered air-fried French toast last summer, and now it’s one of his go-to breakfasts when he wakes up first on weekends. It’s a good thing because it’s easier to clean up than French toast on the stove.
With the tips here, you’ll learn how to get that perfect texture that’s not too eggy, not dry, and just ready to be drizzled with homemade syrup.
Ingredients
You’ll soak your sliced bread (the thicker the better) in a sweet liquid mixture made of eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, and cinnamon. What’s important is that you spray or grease the air fryer after it’s preheated, so flipping the French toast is easy.
How to Make Air Fryer French Toast
You’re probably not new to cooking or using the air fryer. Here are some tips for each step to ensure your French toast turns out great:
- Soak the bread slices in the liquid mixture for about 15 seconds per side to avoid soggy French toast. I do this while the air fryer is preheating.
- Grease or spray the metal tray to make it easier to flip and prevent sticking. Always arranged in a single layer, never stacked, so that the air can flow, and working in batches if necessary.
- Cook them for 2 to 3 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of your bread slices. You’ll know they’re ready when the second side is golden brown and the middle is puffed up.

How Long to Air Fry French Toast
At 380F, French toast in the air fryer only takes about 5 minutes to cook, about 2-3 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the bread.

Air Fryer French Toast (Easy & Quick)

Watch how it’s made:
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon sugar, optional
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 slices bread
- Butter or cooking spray, for cooking
Instructions
Prep:
- Preheat the air fryer to 380F.
- In a 9×13 baking dish, whisk the eggs. Add the milk, vanilla, sugar, and cinnamon to the eggs and combine.
- Place the bread slices in the baking dish and let the first side soak up the egg mixture for 30 seconds. Flip the slices over and soak the rest of the liquid for an additional 30 seconds.
- TIP: soak as many bread slices as you can fit inside your air fryer.
Cook:
- Spread a little butter on the hot surface or spray it with cooking spray. Do this after it's done preheating. Place the bread slices in the preheated air fryer, working in batches if necessary, apart so they don't touch.
- Cook at 380F for approximately a total of 5 minutes, flipping the slices over after 2 to 3 minutes and cooking the second side for another 2 to 3 minutes, depending on the thickness of the bread used. You'll know they are ready when the second side is golden brown, and the middles have puffed up (this means they're cooked through).
Serve:
- Remove the French toast from the air fryer and serve with your favorite syrup and toppings.
