This one-pan baked chicken legs and potatoes recipe tastes like true home cooking that seems elaborate, but it’s surprisingly simple, making it perfect for a weeknight.

Chicken Drumsticks and Potatoes
My youngest is in a drumsticks phase, so this recipe for baked chicken legs and potatoes has been making a recurring appearance in our rotation.
We all love it because of the lemon and garlic flavors that shine through, but mostly because it’s a complete meal that doesn’t require sides, unlike the baked chicken pieces and the baked chicken drumsticks, his two other favorites.
What You Need
Do you have chicken legs and Yukon Gold potatoes? Then you can make this recipe! In addition to these, you’ll only need lemon, garlic, and everyday seasonings. Amazing!
How to Make Chicken Legs & Potatoes in the Oven
Incredibly simple! Once you slice the potatoes in half, you’ll season them and the chicken legs in a bowl. Then place both in a baking dish and bake at 400F for 55 minutes. How effortlessly is that? I know!
How to Know Chicken Legs are Done
Chicken legs baked in the oven at 400F are usually done after 55 minutes. You’ll know they are ready when the chicken’s internal temperature has reached 175F.

Baked Chicken Legs & Potatoes (Lemon Garlic)

Ingredients
- 8 chicken drumsticks
- 1 ½ pounds Yukon Gold potatoes
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 2 lemons
- 1 head of garlic
Instructions
Prep:
- Preheat the oven to 400F and position the oven rack in the middle of the oven.
- Wash and dry the Yukon potatoes and slice them in half. If they're on the larger size, bigger than 3 inches, quarter them. Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with a paper towel.
- In a large bowl, add the olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika. Zest and juice one lemon and add it to the bowl. Mix to combine.
- Add the halved potatoes and the chicken drumsticks into the large bowl and toss them around to coat with the mixture.
- Transfer the seasoned chicken and potatoes, along with the seasoning from the bowl, into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Slice the remaining lemon into wedges and add it to the dish. Slice the head of garlic in half, horizontally, and place it, garlic side down, on the baking dish.
Bake:
- Bake the chicken and potatoes for 55 minutes, when the potatoes should be fork tender and the chicken's internal temperature has reached 175F. For a golden crust, switch the oven to broil for 3 minutes.
- Remove the baking dish from the oven.
