Use brewed coffee or espresso powder to make this delicious hot chocolate mocha recipe.

Mocha Coffee
My famous hot cocoa is a family classic, but when I crave an extra pick-me-up, this hot chocolate mocha is always a winner. After indulging the kids with their favorites -they have a thing for Nutella hot chocolate– my husband and I love mocha!
It’s cozy, velvety, and extra delicious. But the best part is that it couldn’t be any easier to make at home. In 5 minutes and with simple ingredients, you can enjoy a mug of pure chocolatey goodness with that something extra that only coffee can bring.
Ingredients
To make this drink, you’ll need any milk (or half and half for extra creaminess), brewed coffee (or instant coffee), sugar, cocoa powder (or cocoa mix packets), and vanilla.
How to Make a Hot Chocolate Mocha
Check out the three simple steps to make this hot chocolate mocha:
- Heat up the milk in the microwave and divide it into 2 mugs.
- To each mug, add sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla. Stir, add the hot coffee, and stir again to dissolve the sugar.
- Serve with your favorite hot cocoa toppings or assemble a hot chocolate charcuterie board if you have guests.

Instant Coffee
You can also make this mocha hot chocolate using instant coffee. How? Super simple! Add 1 to 1 ½ teaspoons of instant coffee to your mug, and swap the brewed coffee for hot water. Stir and enjoy!
