Today I want to share with you a dream that came true! I bought a tiny house to turn it into a Studio. Yes. I did! I’ve been dreaming of a place where all things fresh food, family, and my passion for sharing it all with you could come together. I didn’t know how this would come to fruition; I just knew one day I would make it happen.

After two and a half years of filming in my parent’s kitchen, it was time to find my own place. My kitchen, unfortunately, is not camera friendly. It’s dark, always messy with six people going in and out of it daily, my kids are homeschooled and nearly always home, and it’s impossible to keep tidy. Most importantly, I believe in separating my workplace from my home. In other words, I need boundaries.
I began to scour all the home listings in a 15-minute driving radius from my home mid-2016. Sometimes, the search was borderline obsessive, meaning, I’d spent hours looking at a listing, imagining kitchen layout plans, and then crossing them off my list because of the price. Other times; I’d go weeks without finding so much as a new listing that met my criteria. Still, I knew it was a matter of time that I would find the right place, so I kept on being hopeful.
One day, a couple of days after Thanksgiving, I saw a new listing not too far from my house and I instantly imagined how I would remodel it to be able to create a kitchen space we could film in. After checking it out, we envisioned what we could do with it and made a plan for the house.
After a long month of inspections, negotiating items to be fixed with the seller, and almost walking out of the deal twice, this small, almost 1200 square feet cottage home is mine!
Of course, the property needs a lot of TLC, walls to be removed, bathrooms gutted, floors ripped up, and a full kitchen reno. All to fulfill my dream of being able to come to work, flip a switch, and film recipe and lifestyle videos for YouTube and other exciting projects.
For now, I look forward to sharing with you the journey of this amazing Studio renovation and bringing you along for the adventures that will take place beginning 2017. Follow along on Instagram as #momablesstudio
Have you remodeled a home before? What was your experience like?

That’s so exciting! Yes, I totally understand what you mean about boundaries. I think it’s very important to keep work separate or else it can kind of just take over.

Congrats to making this dream come true.

Thank you so much!!

Congratulations, Laura! Having a clear vision of what you want is MORE than half the battle with renovation. I’m so glad to see you will have your own space. And even more glad to know that the beautiful, perfectly tidy kitchen that you have been filming in was not your own kitchen. It’s good to know you live in a real house, with real kids who make messes. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for you!
Laura Fuentes says
Oh yes. That perfectly “tidy kitchen” is not mine at all, just a filming space. I can’t wait to share the renovations!
