Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

Want a spin on the traditional hummus? Try this edamame hummus recipe ASAP! It has the same garlicky, delicious flavors you love with a bonus of 8 grams of protein per serving.

Let’s grab our favorite dipping snacks and make a batch of this edamame hummus- quick!

What is Edamame Hummus

Edamame hummus is a yummy variation of my classic hummus recipe made with steamed soybeans instead of chickpeas. It has the same creamy texture we love but a richer flavor thanks to the combination of tahini, fresh garlic, and soy sauce.

How Many Calories Are in this Edamame Dip

Each ¼ cup serving of edamame dip has 212 calories, 9 grams of protein, 17 grams of healthy fats, and only 4 grams of net carbs.

This is a terrific nutritional profile; plus, edamame is considered a complete protein because it provides all of the essential amino acids our bodies need but can’t produce.

Edamame Hummus Ingredients

Here’s everything you need to make a batch of the best edamame hummus:

  • shelled edamame: you can find these in the frozen section of your local grocery store.
  • tahini: adds depth of flavor and makes great hummus
  • water: gives it a smoother consistency.
  • lemon juice: brightens the flavor.
  • soy sauce: just a dash or two helps bring out the edamame flavor.
  • garlic: fragrant and makes any hummus taste better.
  • salt: enhances the other flavors.
  • cumin: adds smokiness.
  • ground coriander: dried and ground cilantro leaves- a little pinch goes a long way.
  • olive oil: adds richness and helps the ingredients blend.
  • flat-leaf parsley: just a sprinkle of fresh parsley for garnish.

How to Make Edamame Hummus

Making edamame hummus is super easy since everything gets blended in a high-speed blender or food processor until it reaches creamy perfection. Here’s how to make it:

  1. Prep the edamame
Steam the edamame according to package directions.
  2. Purée
Combine the edamame, tahini, water, lemon juice, soy sauce, garlic, and spices in the food processor or blender. While processing, drizzle in the olive oil, allowing the mixture to fully combine.
  3. Serve
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and top with freshly chopped parsley if using.

What Goes with Edamame Hummus

This edamame hummus tastes great with anything you’d serve with regular hummus! Enjoy it with sliced fresh vegetables, crackers, or pita bread for a substantial and healthy snack. You can also use it in place of mayonnaise in healthy wraps and sandwiches.

I would pair Bitsy’s Maple Carrot crisp crackers with cream cheese whipped with some homemade lemon curd or homemade raspberry puree for a sweeter snack or dessert. My kids love my homemade cream cheese whips with their vibrant colors! If I’m feeling fancy, I drizzle in the lemon curd or raspberry puree to create an exciting swirled whipped cream cheese! We have been away from the US for a few years and will be visiting this summer — Target is definitely on my list of places to shop at! Thanks for the opportunity and can’t wait to visit a Target and buy more Bitsy’s products!

I like to make my own hummus – I used the very simple recipe on the Vitamix site (using sesame seeds instead of tahini – one less thing to store in the fridge) and after making it a few times I played around with and found that I could replace one can of the chickpeas with a can of artichokes! More veggies!

Hummus and guacamole, of course. Or just on their own. My 4year old and I can go through a box in one sitting!

I bet these crackers would go great with any of the laughing cow cheese spreads.
I am definitely going to try the dip recipe too.

Cant wait to try this hummus recipe! My son loves his “dip dip”(hummus), especially the Carrot hummus. I will have to try the Cheddar Chia Veggie ones next! We also love the ABC Sweet Potato cookies 🙂

For an easy dip I like to grab a handful of fresh herbs from the garden- usually parsley and dill- then chop then and mix them into a bowl of Greek yogurt. Sprinkle in some garlic powder, S&P and that’s it! It’s even better after it sits for an hour. Great with Bitsy’s crackers.

We love homemade hummus but I also have a cauliflower dip that’s similar in taste to hummus that we love as well. My daughter loves just about anything that she can dip crackers into!

My favorite dip to eat w/crackers is guacamole.
2 ripe avocados , onion and piece of garlic finely chopped with cubed tomato all mixed together. ..A squeeze of lime helps too and of course salt n pepper to taste.
So yummy and healthy ,even my teenagers dig it.
