Grab the food processor or the blender and make this flavorful sun-dried tomato hummus in 5 minutes. It’s THAT easy!

Healthy Hummus With Sun-Dried Tomatoes
I love finding new ways to use my Authentic Greek Hummus recipe, but, honestly, why enjoy just one kind of hummus? Exactly. That’s when I came up with this delicious sun-dried tomato hummus.
This dip takes 5 minutes and tastes like a million bucks, just by adding sun-dried tomatoes in oil. These tomatoes are super flavorful and give classic hummus a delish twist, as I did too in this amazing Sweet Potato Hummus recipe that’s always a hit.
Hummus is a good source of protein from chickpeas, and it's a definite winner for everyday snacking, spreading on sandwiches, and serving as an appetizer at any gathering.
Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus Ingredients
Store-bought hummus is delicious and convenient, but nothing beats the taste of homemade. It’s easy to make with a food processor or blender, and you can control how much or how little of each ingredient goes into the recipe. Here’s what you need to make sun-dried tomato hummus:
- Canned chickpeas: the base of any hummus recipe.
- Sun-dried tomatoes in oil: the key ingredient to turn classic hummus into this epic version.
- Tahini: this sesame paste is a classic ingredient for hummus. Don’t tahini around? Below, I explain how to swap it.
- Oil: instead of olive oil, I use oil from sun-dried tomatoes for a richer flavor.
- Garlic: just when you thought this hummus couldn’t get any more delicious!
- Lemon juice: adds a tasty bright note.
- Salt and pepper: for seasoning.
- Water: in case you need to thin the hummus out a little.

Can you Make Hummus without Tahini?
Tahini is a sesame seed paste and what gives hummus its creamy texture. However, not everyone keeps a jar of it in the pantry. The good news is that you can make hummus without tahini by swapping it with equal parts of any of the ingredients below:
- natural peanut butter
- natural almond butter
- sunflower seed butter
- mashed avocado
The flavor won’t be the exact same, but it’s still a delicious dip or spread with all your favorite snacks.
What to Dip in Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus
Or should I say what not to dip in sun-dried tomato hummus? It’s so good there’s no wrong way to enjoy it! The classics never fail: crackers, potato chips, nachos, and pita chips are some of my favorites for snacking.
Hummus also goes great with fresh or cooked vegetables, such as Baked Garlic Parmesan Fries, baby carrots or carrot fries, celery sticks, cauliflower bites, roasted zucchini spears, bell pepper strips, snap peas, cherry tomatoes, and any other veggie your family loves dipping!
