Upgrade your breakfast with these simple and creamy flaxseed overnight oats you can assemble in a breeze.

Overnight Oats with Flaxseed
Classic overnight oats are my go-to breakfast for busy mornings, so adding ingredients like flaxmeal or chia seeds is an easy way to boost nutrition. And because they’re mild in flavor, you’ll barely notice them while adding omega-3 fatty acids and fiber to your meal.
Ingredients
For this recipe, you’ll need old-fashioned oats (hold their texture best overnight), your favorite regular or dairy-free milk, Greek or regular yogurt (any flavor), flaxseed, and vanilla.
Ratio of Flaxmeal to Overnight Oats
To achieve the best overnight oat consistency, the ratio is ½ cup old-fashioned oats to 1 tablespoon flaxmeal. Then add milk + yogurt or milk only.
How to Make Flaxseed Overnight Oats
- Combine the base recipe in each jar and stir. Then add add-ins now or wait and use them as a topping.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Serve them cold from the fridge, or microwave them for 30 seconds.

More Mix-in Ideas
Here are more delicious ideas to mix with your flaxseed overnight oats or add in the morning as a topping:
- Nut butter: 1 teaspoon per jar for flavor.
- Protein powder: 1 tablespoon per jar for more protein. With some protein powders, you might need to add a little extra liquid.
- Honey or maple syrup: 1-2 teaspoons per jar to sweeten.
- Fruit: ½ cup per jar, sliced or diced.
- Nuts & seeds: 1-2 teaspoons per jar for healthy fats.
