If you want to get the benefits of drinking whole juice without spending $4 per bottle at the grocery store, this berry juice recipe is the perfect start.
You can make it in a high-speed blender or juicer if you have one, for a purple glass of delicious berry flavor with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Berry Juice ingredients
For this berry juice recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- Water: helps everything blend up smoothly.
- Fresh kale: could also be spinach.
- Frozen mixed berries: blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries.
While you can use fresh fruit, I recommend frozen since it makes the juice taste even more refreshing. On the other hand, kale can be fresh or frozen.
The 2 cups of berries help to sweeten this juice and mask up the kale flavor, no honey or added sugar is necessary.
How to Make Berry Juice in a Blender
To make juice in a blender, you need a high-speed blender that can liquefy whole veggies and fruit without leaving behind a lot of pulp. Both Vitamix and BlendTec are excellent options.
Here’s how to make berry juice in a blender:
- Rinse
Rinse the fresh kale with water to remove any debris. - Process
Add the water, kale, and berries to the blender. Cover with lid and process on low, gradually increasing the speed to high. Process for 45 seconds until the mixture is smooth and liquified. - Enjoy!
Transfer the smoothie into glasses and drink up!

Making Berry Juice in a Juicer
To make this recipe in a juicer, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, adding the veggies and fruit to the chute and using the pusher to press them down.
In this case, fresh or defrosted berries are preferred and no water is necessary. The juicer does an excellent job of extracting all liquid. However, if you want to dilute the flavor, you can add water to the finished product and stir to combine.
Berry Juice Consistency
Berry juice made in the blender has a thicker consistency. Juice made in a juicer is much lighter and thinner with a few flecks of pulp.
If you don’t have a juicer and prefer the consistency of real juice, you can strain the blended liquid through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth. It’s an extra step but helps strain out the excess pulp.
Berry Juice Benefits
Both the kale and berries in this juice provide a ton of vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber. Each serving of this berry juice packs:
- 85 calories
- 5g of fiber
- 42%- DV of vitamin A
- 85%- DV of vitamin C
- 205%- DV of vitamin K
- 17%- DV of calcium
Depending on what berries you use, these also provide a ton of desirable nutrients to keep your immune system strong and feeling energized. For instance, blueberries contain 24% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C, 36% of vitamin K, and 25% of manganese, a trace mineral.
Just 1 cup of kale provides 206% of the daily value of vitamin A, 684% of vitamin K, and 134% of vitamin C, along with other trace minerals.
Berry juice made in the blender is slightly more nutritionally dense than juiced berries and kale. Why? The blender liquifies the veggies and fruit but keeps the pulp which packs a ton of fiber. However, the juice itself is still an excellent source of vitamins and minerals.
Berry Juice Ingredient Swaps
Want to use the fruit and veggies you have on hand? Below, are other ingredients you can use to make your own juice at home.
- spinach: a great source of iron, folic acid, and calcium. Slightly less bitter than kale.
- raspberries: 1 cup provides 8 grams of fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants
- strawberries: are widely available and provide vitamin C, manganese, and potassium.
- mango: contains a hefty amount of vitamin C with other trace minerals such as copper and folate. Also gives the smoothie a tropical flavor.
- pineapple: is packed with Vitamin C and manganese.
- ginger: a popular ingredient for juices that adds flavor and helps with digestion. You’ll want to use 1 to 2 slices of fresh, peeled ginger, a little goes a long way.

Help! My kindergartner only wants to eat pancakes! While I do sneak tofu and veggies in them, pancakes are Not the cornerstone of a nutritious meal when it’s Every meal! I’could use the Vitamix to make delicious and nutritious shakes for my growing boy! I’ve tried the Vitamix and it is wayyyyyy better than the Ninja, Bullet or various other blenders. The Vitamix isn’t Just a blender…it’s a Lifestyle. Please, Please, Please send one my way.
Signed,
Mother of a Picky Eater 🙂

I have a shake every morning and I’m so tired of replacing my mediocre blenders every so often. They aren’t strong enough and die out way too soon! Would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a Vitamix. I have always wanted one, just can’t justify spending that amount of money! Fingers crossed I win!!! 🙂

I need one of these in my life! 2 boys in sports means a lot of meals on the run, smoothies sure would be nice to add to out mix!!
Missy
My blender is broken, and we love smoothies!
Brenda
I would love a Vitamix because the juicer is super hard and time consuming to clean all of the pieces and we are missing too much of the good fiber in the fruits and veggies.

I use a NutriBullet and while l like it and it works, I don’t love it. I have major blender envy when I see what can be made with this machine! Get job Laura!

My blender died. 🙁

Why do I need a vitamix? My husband comes home from work at 11:00 PM and makes himself a smoothie every night. The blender he uses is about forty years old had has a motor that sounds like an airplane engine. It takes about 10-15 minutes of random pulsing to get to smoothie consistency. So he wakes up the whole house. Fun.

Would love one of these machines. I really could use it for improving my families health and get more veggies in us. Thank you for offering it.

I would love a Vitamix. My neighbors all have them and I contemplate buying one at the Home Show every year. The good it could do with having a two year old would be life changing. From the quick smoothies for the constant on the go to the nice quick soups for the baby. Those with a 2 year old know time is precious. A Vitamix would make even more precious.

I would love to win a Vitamix. Having a VitaMix would help our family eat a healthier diet. Eliminate all the processed preservatives in our fast food drinks and incorporate healthy live food. It would be great for quick evening dinners and those delicious sauces and soups too. My family could finally have an ultra fresh diet and become healthier with the amazing Vitamix!!!
Linda
I am vegan and would love to make my own plant based sauces, dips, dressings, soups, “milks”, and everything else plant based!
Thanks!
Peggy
I would love a Vitamix to get more healthy fruits and veges into my family’s diet.
Christy
My blender broke and I’ve been wanting a Vitamix so badly! I am working on weight loss and healthier food for my family including my special needs son.
Kerry
I NEED to win a Vitamix because my blender broke & I refuse to settle any more for a “less than” – which is ANY other blender/juicer. I’m 46, live in Ohio and have literally wanted one my whole life! I suffered through eating smoothies made with other inferior contraptions (bcs you can’t drink a smoothie made with anything else, they are too chunky!) If that’s not enough, I will write & post on every site & blog I belong to a glowing, promo/review to help convert the rest of the world to the Vitamix Nation. Viva Vitamix!
