3 Back to School Healthy Bento Boxes

By Laura Fuentes Updated Mar 8, 2024

These delicious healthy bento boxes for kids are brought to you in partnership with Sabra. Thank you for supporting the companies that encourage my creativity.

Out of ideas for school lunches? I get you. There are only so many times I can pack a sandwich before they come home uneaten because they didn’t have enough time. Note to self: cut it smaller next time.

Or, I could just skip the sandwich all together and make one of these! These three healthy bento boxes for kids and adults are a breeze to make and super fun to eat.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that we are very much obsessed with hummus and guacamole anything. Seriously, check out my posts with hummus or other recipes that include guacamole. They are everywhere!

I’ve been using Sabra hummus in many of my recipes for years; heck, I’ve even visited the factory I love it so much. And when it comes to packing healthy and fresh school lunches, their single packs are perfectly portioned and are ultra convenient!

Did I mention that these lunchboxes get packed super fast? Between using a compartmentalized lunch container to separate my ingredients and using items I have in my fridge on hand, in five minutes I’ve got a healthy lunch done and packed!

First up: the “Cali” box. Just place some Roasted Red Pepper Sabra hummus pack with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, chopped bacon and pita chips. Voilá! A fresh, light lunch, is ready to eat. You can add some protein with extra turkey slices.

Another box idea is to add a Sabra guacamole pack with pepper jack cheese, black olives, bell pepper strips, cherry tomatoes, and tortilla or plantain chips.

My kids love the plantain chip option because they claim it’s an amazing flavor combo of sweet and savory.

My last idea is to use the Classic Sabra hummus pack with turkey pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, black olives, and cucumbers.

As you can see, these easy bento boxes incorporate lots of fresh veggies and nutritious ingredients you can feel great about eating yourself and packing it for the kids.

I personally love solutions that are one-size-fits-all where I can pack more or less the same idea for all of us. And the best part? All of these bento boxes can be packed a few days ahead, making it entirely a grab-and-go option for busy weekday mornings.
