Before we get into all of the health benefits of prunes for your body, let me show you how easy this smoothie is to make. It’s truly epic!

Prune Juice Smoothie Ingredients

Here’s everything you need to make berry and prune juice smoothies:

  • Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice: adds fiber, vitamins, and helps blend the ingredients.
  • coconut milk: contains healthy fats and gives the smoothie a creamier texture. Swap it for regular milk or your favorite non-dairy alternative if you don’t have canned coconut milk.
  • spinach: an easy and yummy way to get your greens in.
  • frozen blueberries: provide antioxidants and fiber.
  • chia seeds: are an excellent source of fiber and help to thicken the smoothie.
  • ice: creates that thick, frosty texture we love in smoothies.

In the video below, I share a quick and delicious way to incorporate prune juice into your day.

If you’ve been around here for any length of time you know by now that fresh, whole foods are super important to my family and I. Years ago, when I started the journey of a fresh food lifestyle with my family I never thought it would open so many doors to share my experience and insights with my readers.

And with the recipes and tips I’ve been sharing on my website, you too can enjoy eating fresh and feel great without spending hours in the kitchen.

For a few years now, I’ve been sharing recipes made with Sunsweet Prunes because they are a staple in my household. Other recipes with prunes include my Fudgy Brownies, Chicken with Prunes and Sage, to a Chocolate Smoothie Bowl, they help me add a touch of sweetness to my recipes, as well as essential vitamins, minerals and added fiber.

Step one making a prune juice smoothie - adding all of the dry ingredients to the blender.

I’ve also shared a delicious recipe for Sweet and Sour Turkey Meatballs made with Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice as an alternative way to get more flavor out of a terrific recipe without adding sugar. Using ingredients that add nutrition to my meals helps me stay healthy.

I can talk about food ALL day long but today I want to shift that focus because it’s not always about what we eat, but what we drink.

Unlike most other fruit juices which are loaded with empty calories and tons of sugar, prune juice actually packs a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need. With that being said, let’s go a little further into the benefits of prune juice and why I incorporate it into my daily health routine.

Benefits of Prune Juice

Prune juice is one of the more nutritious fruit juices, made from fresh plums, it packs a lot of amazing benefits. Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice has no added sugars and each serving provides 5 essential vitamins, minerals, including 3 grams of fiber to help balance and maintain your digestive health to help you feel your best. These essential vitamins include potassium, riboflavin, vitamin B6, copper, and niacin.

With 3 grams of fiber per serving, prune juice also includes digestive properties which plays an important role in our gut’s microbiome.

Prune Juice Nutrition

I’ve been purchasing Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice for years because their prunes come from high quality fruit and is packed with key nutrients. If you’ve ever opened a bag of Sunsweet Prunes, you’ve noticed that their dried fruit is plump, juicier, and it just tastes better. And their prune juice, of course, is made from delicious fresh plums.

If sugar intake is a concern, PlumSmart Light is made from a special variety of fresh, juicy plums, and it has 3 grams of fiber and 60 calories per serving -and has 60% less calories and sugar than other leading juice cocktails, which makes it a great alternative to full sugar beverages.

How Much Prune Juice Should I Drink to get the Benefits?

One serving of prune juice is 1 cup, that’s 8 ounces. You can start small, at 4 ounces and then go up to a full serving.

When Should I drink prune Juice?

I like to drink my prune juice in the morning; either in a glass with my breakfast or in a smoothie like this one.

Why I Love Prune Juice Smoothies

Smoothies are the easiest way to make prune juice a part of your family’s day! Its natural sweetness can replace any added sugars and my recipe will keep everyone steady sipping. Make it for a quick breakfast or healthy afterschool snack.

You can substitute prune juice for the liquid in your favorite smoothie recipes for a quick way to add fiber and natural sweetness in addition to all the benefits of drinking prune juice. The recipe below is for my family’s favorite and I hope it becomes a regular drink in your household too.

I added a tbsp maple syrup, a tsp of vanilla extract, omitted the ice and chia seeds and subbed half a block of firm tofu. This turned out so good! Thanks for the idea.

I am very confused with the portion size. I made mine with 1 cup prune juice and all other ingredients as listed. My blender could not hold it all. But it yielded much more than 1 cup. Am I supposed to measure out 1 cup? Or is it ok for me to drink my full blender cup?
