Spreadable Cottage Cheese

Whipped cottage cheese is the perfect solution when you or someone in your family wants extra protein but can’t stand the texture of cottage cheese. I get it.

My youngest is one of them, so I found a few effective ways for him to enjoy it, such as cottage cheese scrambled eggs, cottage cheese dip, and this super-easy, spreadable cottage cheese. It takes 2 minutes to turn its controversial texture into a soft and airy!

Benefits of Cottage Cheese In Recipes

Cottage cheese is a great source of protein, with 24 grams per cup, according to the USDA. It’s also rich in vitamins and minerals, especially calcium. Since it has a mild flavor, it’s easy to incorporate into sweet and savory meals, from pancakes to pasta and chicken, and everything in between.

Best Type of Cottage Cheese to Use

Using 4% and 2% cottage cheese yields a thicker texture to your spread. If using non-fat, drain any excess liquid before adding the cottage cheese to the blender.

How to Make Spreadable Cottage Cheese

Easy peasy! To make whipped cottage cheese, simply place the cottage cheese in the food processor or blender and blend for 30 seconds, increasing the speed gradually until the consistency is airy and smooth.

Ways to Use It

Whipped cottage cheese is the perfect spread for your morning toast with chia jam or to enjoy a delish high-protein avocado toast, just as you would with cream cheese.

It’s also a great addition to your oatmeal bowl, salads, for dipping fruit and veggies, to give a protein boost to parfaits, or to spread in your favorite lunch sandwich.

How to Store Whipped Cottage Cheese

Whipped cottage cheese is best used immediately, so blend only what you’ll need. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days in an airtight container. Make sure to mix it before spreading it again.

Love using this whipped cottage cheese for so many things. It’s perfect because I’m not a fan of the normal cottage cheese texture

I love all the benefits of cottage cheese, but hate the texture. This whipped method is fantastic! I tried a few of your topping suggestions and I’ve loved them all so far.
