You’ll love how easily the pan gives each slice of french toast those golden, crispy edges and perfectly cooked puffy middles. You’ll find my cooking tips below.

Can You Make French Toast with Bananas?
The best part about this recipe is that the bananas are in the batter so the bread soaks up their naturally sweet flavor.
There are many ways you can use bananas in recipes other than everyone’s go-to banana bread, and making French toast with them should be at the top of the list.
Use ripe bananas for the soaking liquid and a not-so-ripe but yellow for the top, and you’ll be set. In a few minutes, you’ll be enjoying a delicious stack a lot faster than baked French toast.
Ingredients
French toast calls for eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and thick slices of bread that can absorb the liquid mixture without getting soggy. In addition, this recipe includes ripe bananas for extra flavor and natural sweetness.
How to Make French Toast with Bananas
Some tips to ensure the success of making this recipe, especially since the bananas go in the liquid mixture that don’t fit in the recipe card include:
- Make the banana egg mixture
Use the blender to blend the bananas with the other ingredients. Mashing the bananas in a bowl will not work. - Soak the bread
Soak each bread slice for about 1 or 2 minutes per side, a little less if using thinner bread. Remove before it feels soggy. - Cook
Cook the bread in the pan or griddle and don't move it for 2 to 3 minutes. Then, flip it and cook for 1 to 2 minutes on the other side.

Don’t let the bread soak too long
Let the bread sit in the egg mixture long enough so it soaks up just enough egg batter, but it’s not completely drenched.
Banana French Toast Toppings
Each slice of French toast is just the beginning of breakfast goodness. The possibilities for French toast toppings are unlimited with more banana slices, walnuts, peanut butter drizzled on top, nutella, your favorite pancake syrups, fresh berries, Strawberry Syrup, roasted strawberries, and a little powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Banana French Toast (in a Pan)

Watch how it’s made:
Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana, about ½ cup mashed
- 4 eggs
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
- ¼ cup milk
- 8 slices of thick bread
Instructions
Prep:
- In a blender, place the banana, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, and milk. Blend to combine into a smooth mixture. Mashing the bananas in a bowl will not work.
- Pour mixture into a large 9×13 baking dish. Tip: soak as many bread slices as you can fit in your pan at one time, for 2 minutes on the first side, flip, and an additional 1 to 2 minutes on the second side.
Cook:
- Heat a large non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, grease with oil or butter. Place the soaked bread slices on the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, without moving the bread, until the bottom is golden and flips easily.
- Flip the banana french toast slices and cook the second side for 2 more minutes, until the middles are puffy and the liquid mixture has been absorbed and cooked through. Remove onto a plate and keep warm while you cook the remaining bread slices.
Serve:
- Serve warm topped with banana slices, syrup, and any toppings that make your heart happy. Peanut butter over these makes mine skip a beat.
