This roasted broccolini with garlic, lemon, and olive oil pairs perfectly with everything making it a terrific healthy side dish!
While roasting vegetables might not be the most exciting thing and something you do on the regular, it is the best way to enjoy them! Make this simple, yet restaurant-worthy recipe at home with this easy recipe.

What is Broccolini
Broccolini is a hybrid veggie – and a yummy one at that. A lot of people think it’s just a younger broccoli stalk, but that’s actually not true.
Broccoli is a hybrid of regular broccoli and Chinese broccoli, with a little bit sweeter of a taste than typical broccoli stalks.
Ingredients for Roasted Broccolini
Making this simple roasted vegetable recipe isn’t hard to do at all – and that’s because it has minimal ingredients and the oven does the rest!
Here is what you’ll need to get started:
- broccolini: about 2-3 bunches is all that is needed.
- olive oil: although sometimes I opt for melted ghee.
- garlic cloves: minced or grated is perfect or garlic powder if that’s all you have.
- lemon: the acidity gives it a summer-fresh flavor roasted right in.
- salt: for seasoning.
- red pepper flakes: optional and highly recommend.
How to Prep Broccolini for Roasting
Prepping broccoli is as simple as giving it a good wash, trimming the bottoms of the stems, about ½ inch so that what remains is tender and fresh.
After that, it’s all about seasoning, lining a baking sheet (although not essential but great for easy cleanup), and you’re set!

How to Roast Broccolini
Now that you know what goes into the recipe and how easy it is to prep this veggie, here are the steps you’ll take to make roasted broccolini perfectly every time:
- Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 400F and line a baking pan with parchment paper. Wash and trim broccolini so all stems are about the same size. - Combine the ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic, lemon zest, salt, and red pepper flakes. Once zested, slice the lemon in half. - Coat the broccolini
Add the broccolini to the large bowl, and toss to coat evenly with the mixture so all the bunches are coated with flavor. - Add lemon
Spread the broccolini on the lined baking sheet. For added flavor, squeeze half of a lemon over the broccolini. - Bake
Bake, for 15 minutes, for crisp-tender broccolini, a little longer for charred. - Take out of the oven
Remove from the oven and squeeze the remaining lemon juice if desired.
What Temperature to Roast Broccolini
To roast the broccoli perfectly, 400F in the oven is the best temperature! It’s a great way to crisp the outside and leave the inside tender.
Do You Eat the Stems of Broccolini?
Yes, you can eat the stems of broccolini, as long as you remember to trim off the bottoms.
Which is Healthier Broccoli or Broccolini?
Both are great for a healthy diet, but broccolini actually has more calcium and Vitamin A!
