Read this post to learn what to put on a pancake bar, keep the pancakes warm, and how to make the process easy and fun for everyone with the tips in this post.

Easy Pancake Bar at Home
What makes this pancake bar so fun for me and my family is being able to eat a delicious pancake breakfast together and each of us gets to customize our stack with our favorite toppings and pancake syrups.
It doesn’t matter if you make a big bowl of pancake batter, set yourself up on the griddle, and flip the pancakes until your heart is content or, decide to warm up some frozen pancakes -anything works!
When I set up a pancake bar for a sleepover, a party, or a fun birthday breakfast, or when I grab disposable bowls and dishes and go to town with the fun toppings. The more fruit you can dice up, the healthier the pancake toppings. To make it feel like a treat I also set up lots of syrups and sweet treats!

What to Put on a Pancake Bar
You can keep it simple or go all out with the number of things you set up on your pancake bar to top the pancakes. Usually, each ingredient is placed inside its own bowl or several arranged on a board. Here are some ideas:
- Fruit: fresh fruit diced or sliced. Try apples, pineapple, pears, kiwi, cherries, or banana slices.
- Berries: fresh is great. Try diced strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, or raspberries are a family fave.
- Frozen fruit: the trick with using any frozen fruit is to thaw it out first, drain the liquid, and put it in a dish.
- Baked fruit: they give your pancakes a fancy feel. Try roasted strawberries or baked apples for an epic treat.
- Jam: an easy way to add flavor when you don’t have fruit. Try this quick chia jam.
- Butter: remember to take a stick out and keep it at room temperature so it’s easy to spread.
- Whipped cream: easy to whip up in a few minutes, keep it in the fridge until ready to serve.
- Cream cheese: whipped cream cheese works great and it’s a fun way to sandwich two pancakes together with fruit in the middle.
- Greek yogurt: a great way to add protein to any pancake stack. Any flavor will work!
- Whipped topping: you’ll find this favorite dessert topping in the freezer section.
- Pancake syrup: classic syrup, homemade pancake syrup, or maple syrup.
- Honey: this European flavorite is always a winner on pancakes.
- Peach syrup: easy to make with fresh, frozen, or canned peaches.
- Cinnamon syrup: a simple recipe that can transform any pancake.
- Blueberry syrup: better than the one at IHOP that you can make with fresh or frozen blueberries.
- Strawberry syrup: delicious and sweet made with real fresh or frozen strawberries.
- Peanut butter: warm it up a little so it’s creamier and easier to drizzle. You can also add it to the batter and make peanut butter pancakes.
- Fluff: buy a jar or make this easy marshmallow fluff and turn your pancakes into smore-like!
- Nutella: spread this creamy chocolate for an epic chocolate pancake experience. Or, try this
- Cinnamon Roll Glaze: just like a cinnamon roll, it drizzles incredibly well, especially over cinnamon pancakes.
- Granola: sprinkled on top for added crunch! Try my chocolate coconut or vanilla granola recipes.
- Graham cracker crumbs: the more crumbly the better. They go great over yogurt and berry-topped pancakes or with nutella and fluff!
- Crushed Oreos: a fantastic topping for cookies & cream fans.
- Nuts: chop them small and try pecans, walnuts, macadamia, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and chia seeds are all great options.
- Cereal: turn that fun cereal that’s in the pantry into a crunchy topping.
- Chocolate chips: milk, white, or dark chocolate perfectly complement with indulgent & sweet flavor.
- Mini M&Ms: my kids love the minis because they’re tiny chocolate tid-bits.
- Sprinkles: they add color and make the topping experience more fun.
- Mini marshmallows: these small ones go great or simply cut the big ones into pieces or make your own homemade marshmallows.
- Spices: pumpkin spice, nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon, are great for dusting on top.
- Cocoa powder: put it in a spice jar and set it out for dusting on top.
- Bacon: smoky, crispy, and irresistible when crumbled on top.
- Eggs: a savory item that doubles as a side for pancakes. Fried or scrambled they always go great!
- Hashbrowns: shredded hash or patties are always a great idea to add to any pancake bar.
- Avocado: slice up a ripe avocado or two, especially if you’re serving eggs it will complete the savory stack.

How to Keep Pancakes Warm for a Pancake Bar
You’ve got a list of pancake toppings to line up on the counter, an incredible fluffy pancake recipe below, and now all you need are the tips for keeping the pancakes warm so everyone can enjoy the pancake bar at the same time.
While there are several methods, my favorite is heating up the oven to a warm setting or the lowest temperature your oven will go –mine is 200F. As you remove the pancakes from the pan or griddle, place them on a baking sheet in the warm oven. When everything is ready and set, take the tray out, transfer the pancakes onto a board or platter and it’s time to eat!
Pancake Bar Toppings & Ideas

Ingredients
For the pancakes:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 ½ cups milk
- 2 eggs
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
Pancake bar:
- 2 cups berries, strawberries or blueberries
- 2 bananas, sliced
- 1 cup Greek yogurt, any flavor
- ¼ cup peanut butter, warm
- ¼ cup nutella, warm
- ⅓ cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup pancake syrup, your favorite
Instructions
Make the pancakes:
- In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the middle and pour in the milk, egg, and butter. Mix with a whisk or fork until smooth.
Cook:
- Heat a non-stick griddle or large pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, grease with butter or spray.
- Immediately, pour or scoop ¼ cup of batter for each pancake. Cook for 2 minutes on the first side, and once the edges are defined and bubbles form, flip the pancakes over. Cook for one more minute on the other side and remove from the pan or griddle onto a plate or keep warm.
Keep warm:
- Heat the oven on the lowest setting (150F-200F) or the warm setting. Place a baking sheet inside the oven, and as you remove the pancakes from the pan, keep them warm in the oven.
Set up the bar:
- Measure individual pancake toppings and syrups in jars or bowls with the necessary utensils to spread, scoop, and serve.
- Once all the items are on the counter and you’re done cooking the pancakes, remove them from the oven and set them on a platter or board.
- Plate a couple of pancakes, top them with the toppings and drizzle syrups.
