I share all my tips for cooking baked salmon and potatoes on the same sheet pan the easy way and with minimal cleanup!

Baked Salmon and Potatoes
While potatoes have a longer cooking time than salmon, this recipe times it perfectly and keeps things simple, so you can make an entire meal in a single sheet pan with minimal cleanup.
The prep is minimal, just 10 minutes, and cleanup is a breeze -a bowl and a sheet pan -so there’s no reason not to make this recipe part of your mealtime rotation!

Ingredients
Grab the ingredient measurements in the recipe card below, but first, here is what you’ll need to make this baked salmon and potatoes recipe:
- Baby potatoes: no need to peel, just cut in half and quarter.
- Olive oil: coats the potatoes and helps them achieve a crispy texture.
- Salt & pepper: for seasoning.
- Garlic powder: to add flavor to the potatoes.
- Italian seasoning: works well on the salmon and the potatoes.
- Salmon fillets: make sure that they’re thawed and ready to cook.
- Cajun seasoning: add as much or as little as you’d like for spicy cajun salmon.
- Butter: pairs great with the cajun seasoning and the salmon.
- Lemon: for squeezing some lemon juice on top of the cooked salmon right before serving.
Best Potatoes to Bake on a Pan with Salmon
My personal preference is baby potatoes because their skin is thin, and there’s no need to peel them, they cook quickly, especially when halved, and have a mild taste that pairs great with baked salmon.
How to Bake Salmon and Potatoes
You’ll love how fast and easy you can cook salmon and potatoes. Follow the simple steps below!
- Clean the potatoes
Wash the potatoes thoroughly and dry them with a kitchen towel. Half them lengthwise and quarter them so they’re approximately the same size. - Season the potatoes
In a large bowl, place the olive oil, seasonings, and potatoes and toss to coat. - Preheat
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 425F. - Start with the potatoes
Transfer the potatoes onto the lined baking sheet, making sure to spread them out evenly on the surface area. Bake the potatoes for 15 minutes in the preheated oven. - Prep the salmon
Prep and season the salmon and get it ready to bake. - Cook the salmon
Remove the pan from the oven after 15 minutes, move the potatoes and place the salmon in the middle of the pan. Put it back in the oven and cook for another 10 to 12 minutes until the salmon separates easily with a fork. Remove from oven. - Serve
Plate the salmon, top it with ½ tablespoon of butter, allow it to melt over the top, and serve it with roasted potatoes.

Best Temperature to Bake Salmon
To achieve flaky salmon, cooking the salmon filets in the oven at 425 degrees for only 10 minutes works perfectly. You can also read this full post on the best time and temperatures to bake salmon.

How Long to Bake Salmon & Potatoes
While the entire meal cooks in one pan, there are two baking times to make a note of.
The potatoes are baked first and will take about 15 minutes for their first phase of cooking. Then, you add the salmon onto the baking sheet, and together they continue baking for another 10-12 minutes, for a total cooking time of 25-27 minutes.

What Else to Serve with Baked Salmon
There is always room for more simple side dish options for salmon. Here are some other easy sides to pair with this salmon recipe:
