It’s tasty. It’s healthy. It’s your next favorite 30-minute weeknight dinner: sheet pan salmon with broccoli and potatoes!

Sheet Pan Salmon Broccoli & Potatoes on a plate

Epic Sheet Pan Salmon with Broccoli & Potatoes

With this easy recipe, you can get that perfect flaky salmon you love that’s never dry served with golden roasted potatoes and caramelized broccoli made in one sheet pan with very little work or cleanup!

In just 30 minutes, you can serve a healthy, tender protein with crispy, tasty vegetables on the side. Essentially, in one recipe you have a full meal that’s healthy and nutritious. Sounds good? It tastes even better!

Ingredients

This sheet pan salmon with veggies becomes big in flavor thanks to the seasonings.

Here is what you need to make this epic dinner:

  • Baby potatoes: they cook quickly and have thin skin, so you don’t need to peel them. Both red or golden potatoes work great!
  • Olive oil: to coat the veggies and make them crispy.
  • Salt and pepper: for seasoning.
  • Garlic powder: adds tons of flavor to the veggies.
  • Italian seasoning: to make potatoes even tastier!
  • Fresh broccoli: cut it into small florets.
  • Salmon fillets: fresh or frozen. If frozen, make sure to thaw them before cooking.
  • Cajun seasoning: or veggie seasoning, creole, or your favorite all-purpose seasoning to add flavor.
  • Butter: a creamy and delicious addition to top the cooked salmon.
  • Lemon: squeezed right before serving to add zest over the salmon and broccoli.

How to Bake Broccoli & Salmon on a Sheet Pan

Baking salmon and broccoli takes very little work and time, resulting in a restaurant-worthy meal you’ll want to make every week!

Here’s the step-by-step:

  1. Prep the potatoes
Wash the potatoes thoroughly and dry them with a kitchen towel. Half them lengthwise and quarter them, so they’re approximately the same size.
  2. Season the potatoes
In a large bowl, place part of the olive oil, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Dump the quartered potatoes in the bowl and toss to coat all the potatoes with olive oil and seasonings.
  3. Prep the sheet pan
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 425F.
  4. Bake the potatoes
Transfer the potatoes onto the lined baking sheet, making sure to spread them out evenly on the surface area. Bake the potatoes for 15 minutes.
  5. Prep the broccoli
Meanwhile, prep the broccoli by chopping the florets into smaller pieces (I usually half them). Toss the smaller florets into the large bowl, with the remaining olive oil and garlic powder.
  6. Prep the salmon
Prep the salmon by patting it dry with a paper towel. Sprinkle 1 to 2 teaspoons of Cajun seasoning over the salmon, depending on how spicy you’d like it to be.
  7. All in the sheet pan!
Remove the pan from the oven after 15 minutes, and move the potatoes to one side of the pan to make room for the salmon fillets and the broccoli. Place the salmon in the middle and the broccoli on the other side of the pan.
  8. Bake to perfection
Place the sheet pan back in the oven and cook for another 10 to 12 minutes, until the salmon separates easily with a fork. Remove from oven. See more details about cooking time below.
  9. Serve
Plate the salmon, top it with butter, and allow it to melt over the top. Serve it with roasted potatoes and broccoli.

How Long to Cook Salmon on a Baking Sheet?

Salmon cooking times vary depending on the thickness of the fillets and the oven’s temperature. At 425F, thin fillets will be ready in about 9 minutes, while thicker salmon fillets will take about 12.

I recommend chopping the broccoli florets into smaller pieces to shorten the cooking time, so they cook at the same time as the salmon on the baking sheet.

Best Temperature to Bake Salmon

The best temperature to bake salmon by itself is 350F but when cooked with other foods, such as vegetables, anywhere between 400F and 425F will yield good results.

Potatoes will always need more time in the oven than most other foods; that’s why the salmon and broccoli go in first at 425F, and mid-way through the cooking process you add the salmon and the broccoli to the baking sheet and continue roasting the potatoes until the end.

What Else Can You Put on a Sheet Pan With Salmon

Salmon pairs great with all kinds of veggies and is the perfect vessel to increase your nutritional intake.

Check out some of the best vegetables you can cook along with salmon on a baking sheet, with no extra effort:

  • Tomatoes – cherry tomatoes have a sweet and juicy flavor that goes great with salmon.
  • Asparagus – a green veggie everyone loves and can be easily baked along salmon, potatoes, and broccoli.
  • Purple Cabbage – not the obvious choice, but once you try roasted cabbage, it becomes your favorite side!
  • Parmesan Green Beans Fries – if you want to add a cheesy flavor to your dinner, add Parmesan green beans!
  • Carrots – oven caramelized carrots will be your next side dish obsession.
  • Zucchini & Squash – crispy, tender, incredibly flavorful… a winning veggie duet for any protein!
  • Curried Cauliflower – much tastier than steamed cauliflower, it’s spiced and deliciously caramelized.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb baby potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder, divided
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 lb broccoli florets, cut into small florets
  • 4 salmon fillets
  • salt and pepper, for seasoning
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons Cajun seasoning*
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ lemon

Instructions

  • Wash the potatoes thoroughly and dry them in a kitchen towel. Half them lengthwise and quarter them so they’re approximately the same size.
  • In a large bowl, place 3 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Dump the quartered potatoes in the bowl and toss to coat all the potatoes with olive oil and seasonings.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 425F.
  • Transfer the potatoes onto the lined baking sheet, making sure to spread them out evenly on the surface area. Bake the potatoes for 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
  • Meanwhile, prep the broccoli by chopping the florets into smaller pieces I usually half them. Toss the smaller florets into the large bowl, with the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and ½ teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • Prep the salmon by patting it dry with a paper towel. Sprinkle 1 to 2 teaspoons of Cajun seasoning over the salmon, depending on how spicy you’d like it to be.
  • Remove the pan from the oven after 15 minutes, and move the potatoes to one side of the pan to make room for the salmon fillets and the broccoli. Place the salmon in the middle and the broccoli on the other side of the pan.
  • Place the sheet pan back in the oven and cook for another 10 to 12 minutes, until the salmon separates easily with a fork. Remove from oven. See the kitchen note below.
  • Plate the salmon, top it with ½ tablespoon of butter, and allow it to melt over the top, and serve it with roasted potatoes and broccoli.

Notes

Note: salmon fillets tend to vary in thickness. Thin fillets will be ready closer to 9 minutes, while thicker salmon fillets will take about 12. The reason the broccoli is chopped smaller is to shorten the cooking time. If you don’t chop the broccoli and leave the florets whole, 12 minutes in the oven will not be long enough, as large broccoli pieces take about 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can steam the broccoli and serve it separately.
Other options instead of Cajun seasoning are veggie seasoning, Creole seasoning, Salmon seasoning, or your favorite all-purpose seasoning (same amounts).

Excited to try this! I’m making it tonight but realized I’m out of Cajun seasoning. Could I use paprika off cayenne pepper?

If you have those two, you can make your own. 3 tablespoons paprika, 2 tablespoons salt, 2 tablespoons garlic powder, 1 tablespoon black pepper, 1 tablespoon onion powder, 1 tablespoon dried oregano, 1/2 to 1 tablespoon cayenne (depends how spicy you want it) and 1/2 tablespoon dried thyme. Otherwise, I would seasoning it with equal parts paprika/salt/garlic powder/oregano.
