Cutest Snowman Pancakes

Fluffy pancakes are a staple in my house, so when the holidays arrive, I surprise the kids with festive versions, like Santa pancakes and these cute snowman pancakes.

They are easy to make from scratch or using a pancake mix. Add some fruit to decorate and ta-da! You have a fun and delicious Christmas breakfast.

How to Make Snowman Pancakes

The easy steps to make these festive pancakes are:

  1. Make the pancake batter using the recipe below or a pancake mix.
  2. Cook mini pancakes. Use about 2 tablespoons for each part of the snowman’s body.
  3. Assemble the snowman by placing three mini pancakes in a row and decorating with berries and powdered sugar.

More Ways to Decorate a Snowman Pancake

Let the kids create their own snowman pancake or decorate it for them using these tasty ideas for each part:

  • Scarf: bacon, twizzlers, whipped cream, or thin strips of strawberry.
  • Buttons: blueberries, chocolate chips, or M&M.
  • Nose: mini chocolate chips, dried prunes or berries, or a small triangle of fruit (strawberry, peach)
  • Eyes: blueberries or chocolate chips.
  • Mouth: sliced strawberry, peach, or banana.
  • Arms: blueberries, pretzel sticks, fruit sliced into sticks, or chocolate syrup.
  • Hat: a strawberry, a raspberry, red berry jam, or a marshmallow.
  • Snowy scene: use powdered sugar, mini marshmallows, or whipped cream to make the whole plate a winter wonderland!

Other fun ways to enjoy the holiday mornings are reindeer pancakes, Grinch pancakes, eggnog pancakes, and these delicious gingerbread pancakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder, aluminum-free
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ½ cups milk, any
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, optional
  • Blueberries, strawberries, powdered sugar

Instructions

Make the batter:

  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the middle and pour in the milk, egg, butter, and vanilla extract. Break up the egg first with a fork, and then begin mixing it with the flour, working from the outside of the bowl in, until just combined and the batter is mostly smooth.

Cook the pancakes:

  • Heat a non-stick griddle or large pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, spray, grease, or melt butter on the hot surface. When using an electric griddle, heat it somewhere between 300 and 350F.
  • Immediately, pour a 2-tablespoon-sized amount of batter to make the mini pancakes for the snowman head and body. Cook the pancakes for about 2 minutes per side. Remove the pancakes from the pan onto a plate and keep them warm while you cook the rest of the batter.

Assemble the snowman:

  • Place three mini pancakes on a plate to create the snowman. Make the eyes, buttons, arms, and feet with blueberries. Use a strawberry for the hat and a small strawberry slice for the mouth. Sprinkle powdered sugar for the snow.

Notes

Since pancake batter naturally has a mild, neutral flavor, I recommend using aluminum-free baking powder.
