Quick Spaghetti With Bacon

Think of this as the simpler cousin to my bacon carbonara. You get the same bacon-and-pasta comfort without having to make a sauce or worry about the eggs. It’s so easy, it’s one my teens can make themselves, which is probably why the bacon is gone by the end of the weekend. It’s simple, delicious, and your family will love it.

Ingredients

To turn spaghetti into the most delicious pasta dinner, you don’t need eggs, just these simple staples: olive oil, bacon, onion, garlic, a pinch of red pepper flakes for a note of heat, and Parmesan cheese for classic cheesy flavor.

How to Make Bacon Spaghetti

  1. Cook the pasta.
Once done, drain the pasta, return it to the pot, and coat it with olive oil.
  2. Cook the bacon and onion.
Browning the bacon, onion, and garlic for a few minutes will infuse the pasta with flavor.
  3. Combine.
Add the cooked bacon to the spaghetti, add Parmesan cheese, and serve.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces dried spaghetti
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, ½ cup diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Cook the pasta:

  • Cook the pasta according to the package directions. When done, drain the water out, and return the pasta to the pot. Pour the olive oil over the top and toss to coat.

Cook the bacon and onios:

  • In a large pan, cook the bacon pieces over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes, stirring. When it begins to brown and crisp up, add the onions, garlic (or garlic powder), and red pepper flakes. Continue cooking until the onions are soft and golden, for about 5 minutes.

Combine & serve:

  • Transfer the cooked bacon and onions into the pot with the spaghetti, add the Parmesan cheese, and toss to combine.
  • Serve this bacon spaghetti pasta topped with additional Parmesan cheese.
