Learn how quick and easy it is to make overnight oats with frozen fruit to yield a tasty consistency and kick up nutrition!

Frozen Fruit Overnight Oats
While I’m a sucker for pancakes, overnight oats are my go-to breakfast when I’m in a rush. If I don’t have fresh fruit for recipes like pineapple overnight oats or mango overnight oats, frozen fruit comes to the rescue.
Using frozen fruit to make overnight oats is just as easy as using fresh fruit, and it can even be more affordable! You can enjoy your favorite fruits all year round, while adding vitamins, minerals, and fiber to your first meal. Woohoo!
Ingredients
You’ll need old-fashioned oats (the best oat flakes to make overnight oats), any regular or dairy-free milk, vanilla extract (optional for a dessert-like flavor), and any frozen fruit you have. I also include ground flaxseed since frozen fruit releases liquid when it thaws, so flaxseed helps thicken the consistency.
Best Frozen Fruits for Overnight Oats
This overnight oats recipe goes great with any frozen fruit, like berries, banana, peach, pineapple, mango, pomegranate, or a mix! I usually freeze blueberries to add to smoothies and baking recipes year-round, and I love that they are bite-sized! When I use frozen strawberries or other large fruits, I cut them into smaller pieces.
How to Make Overnight Oats with Frozen Fruit
These overnight oats with frozen fruit are a breeze to make. Check out the steps:
- Prep the fruit by thawing, if needed, and chopping into pieces.
- Combine the ingredients in single jars or a large container.
- Refrigerate the oats for at least 8 hours or overnight.
- Enjoy this breakfast cold right out of the fridge or heat it in the microwave for a minute.
Do You Need to Thaw Frozen Fruit Before Adding to Oats?
Frozen fruit will thaw overnight. That said, if you’re using larger fruits, like peaches, strawberries, or pineapple, you want to thaw them out slightly so you can cut them into bite-sized pieces. To thaw them enough to cut them, run the fruit under warm water for about a minute or leave it out on the counter for 5 minutes.
Other Mix-Ins
Want extra nutrition and flavor? Up the ante by adding chia seeds, chopped nuts, Greek yogurt, dried fruit, nut butter, protein powder, chocolate chips, or shredded carrots. Yes, I’m obsessed with my carrot cake overnight oats recipe.
How Long Do Overnight Oats Last in the Fridge
How long overnight oats last depends on which fruit you use. Overnight oats with frozen berries last up to 2 days in the fridge, while overnight oats with other frozen fruits last up to 4 days. After that, the fruits get mushy and change their taste and texture.
