Ground Beef Taco Boats

Beef tacos are always a hit at my house, and this version keeps the beefy filling we all love and serves it inside a taco boat.

The boat is simply a soft tortilla bowl that’s easy to fill and load up with toppings, something that can be a challenge when using lettuce wraps for tacos.

How to Make Taco Boats

The simple steps to make these amazing taco boats are:

  1. Cook the beef in a large skillet while breaking up the chunks with a wooden spoon. Once done, drain off the fat.
  2. Heat up the taco bowls in the oven or the microwave. Warm them up while the beef is cooking.
  3. Fill the taco bowls with the cooked beef and top them with your favorite toppings.

Toppings and Variations

Feel free to add your favorite beef taco toppings; mine are shredded cheese, salsa, avocado, and sour cream!

Want to customize this taco boats? Easy peasy! Swap the protein and make rotisserie chicken tacos or salmon tacos served in taco bowls.

Easy Sides

Serve these taco boats with tasty sides you can assemble super fast, like this corn and black bean salsa, an easy side salad, or this 10-minute Mexican cauliflower rice!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 2 ½ tablespoons Taco Seasoning
  • 4 taco bowls, or 8 mini bowls
  • Toppings: shredded cheese, salsa, avocado, sour cream

Instructions

Cook the beef:

  • In a large skillet, cook the meat with taco seasoning over medium-high heat while breaking up the chunks with a wooden spoon into small pieces as it cooks. Once cooked, drain off the fat and return the meat to the skillet.

Heat up the taco bowls:

  • While the beef cooks, heat up the tortilla bowls on a baking sheet in the oven at 250F for about 6 minutes, just until they're warm. You can also microwave them for 30 seconds right before serving.

Assemble:

  • Assemble the taco boats by filling each tortilla bowl with the cooked seasoned meat. Top it with your favorite taco toppings such as shredded cheese, salsa, avocado, and sour cream.
