Combine your favorite tortellini with cheesy Alfredo sauce for a quick family dinner everyone will rave about!

Tortellini with Homemade Alfredo Sauce
My kids used to ask for my classic fettuccine Alfredo, but recently, they have developed a thing for filled pasta, so I always keep a package in the fridge. With this delicious Tortellini Alfredo recipe, you’re also going to get cravings!
Cook fresh or frozen tortellini with your favorite filling and mix them with cheesy Alfredo sauce to serve a terrific meal that fills bellies and is ridiculously easy to assemble in 15 minutes. Btw, I also have a recipe for ravioli Alfredo if that’s your jam!
Ingredients
You can make this recipe with fresh or frozen tortellini with your favorite filling. For the sauce, you’ll need butter, garlic, heavy cream (or half and half to make it lighter), whole milk (low-fat milk works, but the sauce won’t be as creamy), Parmesan cheese, and nutmeg (optional but recommended for amazing flavor).
How to Make Simple Tortellini Alfredo
While the tortellini cooks, make the Alfredo sauce in the skillet by sauteing garlic in butter for incredible flavor, and then adding the liquids. After cooking it for 5 minutes, combine the sauce with the tortellini, and this meal is ready to serve.
Thickening the Sauce
If you want your Alfredo sauce thicker, add ¼ to ½ cup of Parmesan cheese, stir, and wait a few minutes for the sauce to absorb the liquid.

What to Serve With It
I like serving tortellini Alfredo with garlic bread on the side and a serving of veggies. It’s delish! My favorite veggie sides are steamed green beans, Parmesan roasted broccoli, and an easy side salad. They are super quick to make and are packed with flavor and nutrition!
Tortellini Alfredo

Ingredients
- 1 family size package of tortellini, 18 ounces
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 garlic clove*, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream or half and half
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 ½ cups grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
- ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg, optional
Instructions
Cook the pasta:
- Cook the tortellini following the instructions on the box. If you use fresh tortelleni, make the sauce while you bring the water to a boil. Drain the water and set the tortellini aside.
Make the sauce:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter, add the minced garlic, and stir to toast it for about a minute. Make sure it doesn't burn!
- Pour in the half and half (or cream) and milk. Stir constantly. Add the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using) and combine. Reduce the heat and continue cooking the sauce for about 5 minutes.
Combine:
- Combine the cooked tortellini with the Alfredo sauce. Serve it with additional grated cheese on top.
Notes
- No fresh garlic cloves? Use ½ teaspoon of garlic powder.
