As the school year is coming to a start and kids are rushing to the bus stop earlier than they’ve been up all summer, many kids rush out the door without the proper nutrition they need to start their day. Get ready for three healthy back to school breakfast ideas to get them going!

Today, I’m sharing three nutritious make-ahead breakfast ideas that can help any parent have a quick, prepped breakfast their child can eat on their way out the door, making breakfast portable and delicious!
What I love about these ideas is that they are super easy to make and you can have them prepped and ready for the busy morning. Check out this quick video to learn how they are made.
The three breakfast ideas are packed inside an insulated to-go cup and with three layers of insulation, they help keep hot items hot and cold ones fresh.
The make-ahead parfait cups come together quickly, and they are also portable (yogurt + fruit + granola) in a to-go cup. With the tip of how to prevent the granola from getting soggy.

The second idea is Oatmeal to-go cups. What I love is that I can not only make them ahead of time and keep them in my pantry but I also customize the oatmeal cups with dried fruits, cinnamon, and anything else I might want to add. You can grab the recipe for oatmeal packets here and just fill the cups, or, for creamier oats, check out these overnight oats recipes.
Add a little hot water and they are the perfect breakfast fuel to stay focused at school.

The third idea is my husband and son’s favorite breakfast, it’s what I call: Scrambled Eggs To-go!
They love to eat eggs, and I don’t like to be a short order cook, so I often make a whole pan, put them inside an insulated to-go cup and they are a delicious grab-and-go protein-rich breakfast option.

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal to get you going in the morning so skipping it isn’t always the best idea if we want them to stay focused on learning at school.
And, since sitting at the breakfast table isn’t always an option, no matter how early we get up, I often opt for portable real food options like these.
What are some of your go-to portable breakfast ideas?

I will make a big batch of pancakes on the weekend for “toaster cakes” during the week.
I’ve been looking for a good overnight oatmeal to try.
Never thought of putting the eggs to go in the cups like this – I will definitely be using this tip.

Smoothies, of course. But we also like to make ham and egg bagel sandwiches to take with us in the morning. They take all of three minutes to whip up.

Smoothies or egg and cheese sandwich. Cook egg night before and have all ready. Microwave egg for 30 seconds and toast muffins. Away we go.

My child cannot have wheat..or rice..so gluten free bread is out of the question. For a quick breakfast I make breakfast tacos. I use coconut ‘tortillas’ filled with peanut butter and jelly, egg and pork sausage, egg and bacon, beans and egg, potato and egg..I even roll up ham, cheese and egg. possibilities are endless!

I love coconut tortillas too Brenda!

I make waffle sandwiches. I toast a whole grain waffle, spread almond butter and top with sliced banana. Fold in half for my little one.

WE do a lot of portable breakfasts for lunch, too – overnight oats, smoothies, muffins, yogurt parfaits in a thermos, and baked oatmeal (cut into bars or in a bow). hard to pick just one!

I tend to eat my leftover dinner for breakfast lol. Spaghetti would work perfectly in the Chinet cups! And my coffee too!

We do oatmeal, but not a quickie, to go version. Though I do just pour hot water over it rather than cooking it on the stove. That’s something that I learned at work with the access to the hot water spigot on the coffee machine.
My to go breakfast is a green smoothie.
