Healthy Popsicles with Real Fruit

This year, we've been cooling off by spending hours in the swimming pool, having water balloon fights, and eating popsicles. Lots of popsicles. If you haven't made your own popsicles before, it is probably one of the easiest things you can do.

Those "layered" popsicles you see on the web can be intimidating to make; so if you want a recipe that you can "pour-and-go", these lemonade popsicles with real fruit are the one to make!

Plus, the fresh ingredients make this recipe a healthier popsicle so you can say YES when your kids come in sweaty, asking for something sweet. It's a wholesome way to make a cool and healthy snack that both you, your kids and probably even the neighborhood kids are going to love this summer.

Ingredients

The simple combination of lemonade and fresh fruit puts these popsicles over the top! Here are the three basic things you’ll need and some ideas to get you started:

  • Lemonade: you can also try apple juice, pineapple juice, or anything else you and your kids love.
  • Fresh fruit: kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, shaved coconut, peaches, watermelon, blackberries, or pineapple, but the sky is the limit!
  • Popsicle molds: to assemble the popsicles.

How to Make Lemonade Popsicles with Real Fruit

The equipment doesn't need to be fancy, and your kids will love being involved in dreaming up all the flavor possibilities. All you need to do is grab your child's favorite fruits, chop them up, and add them to the popsicle molds! Check it out:

  1. Prep the fruit
If fruit needs to be sliced or chopped, do that first.
  2. Assemble
Place the fruit in the popsicle molds and then pour the lemonade, leaving ¼ inch of room at the top.
  3. Freeze
Let the popsicles freeze for 5 hours or overnight.
  4. Enjoy!
Run water over the mold to separate and enjoy!

Check out how easy these popsicles are to make in this recipe video:

Any shape popsicle molds work for this recipe. I use these silicone popsicle molds because they’re easy to clean. Once the popsicles are frozen, run water over the mold to separate easily, pull the popsicle out, and enjoy!
