I share all the tips to prepare creamy overnight oats with cottage cheese you can customize with your favorite add-ins and toppings.

Overnight Oats with Cottage Cheese

Overnight oats are my go-to portable breakfast since nothing beats the convenience of having your morning meal ready to go. As I do in my crustless cottage cheese quiche, adding cottage cheese to our breakfast for an easy protein boost was a no-brainer!

What I love about cottage cheese in overnight oats is that its mild flavor combines great with the other ingredients, yielding a delicious serving of high-protein creamy oats with no need of adding protein powder.

What Type of Oats are Best for Overnight Oats

Old-fashioned oats -a.k.a. rolled oats- are the best for overnight oats since they yield a creamy texture you won’t get when using quick, instant, or steel-cut oats.

How to Make Cottage Cheese Overnight Oats

Here are the easy steps to make cottage cheese overnight oats for breakfast:

  1. Combine oats, milk, cottage cheese, and vanilla in each jar. Stir to combine.
  2. Refrigerate the sealed jars overnight or up to 4 days. If you add berries, keep in mind that they will change their texture after 2 days. You can also omit the berries or add them when serving.
  3. Enjoy these overnight oats cold or warmed in the microwave for a few seconds.

Mix-Ins and Toppings

Some great mix-ins and toppings for adding extra flavor and nutrition to your overnight oats jars are chopped fresh fruit, berries, dried fruit, chopped nuts, chia seeds (it will make the oats thicker), nut butter, honey or maple syrup, chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and lemon zest & blueberries.

More High Protein Breakfast Recipes

With hungry teens in the house, high-protein breakfasts are essential in our morning routine. Other superb recipes to try are savory muffins with sausage (17.9 g protein per serving), vanilla protein pancakes (41 g protein per serving), easy protein oats (27 g protein per serving), chocolate protein overnight oats (19g), and cottage cheese oatmeal pancakes (25 g protein per serving).
