This warm spinach hummus dip gives a little twist to the traditional spinach dip that's just as good and a lot lighter.

What’s better than traditional cheesy spinach dip? My Warm Hummus Spinach Dip recipe, of course! In less than 5 minutes of prep and a little loving in the oven, you’ll have a hot dip the entire family will love.

Warm Spinach Hummus Dip

My entire family loves my spinach and artichoke dip. However, since my youngest son can’t have too much dairy, that recipe only gets made on occasion. Now, I nearly always make this warm spinach hummus dip instead, since the white sharp cheddar cheese I purchase is nearly lactose-free and he tolerates it well.

My biggest issue with this recipe is having enough hummus in my fridge to make it. If you follow my personal instagram account, you’d see that the kid is obsessed with it.

I usually make my famous Greek Hummus to use in my many recipes with hummus (like these tostadas) or, for a night where minimal prep is required for dinner and I need an easy fix like this hummus chicken; leftovers are for my son to snack on just so I can get dinner prepped.

Ingredients

With four simple ingredients, you can make this delish warm spinach hummus dip! Measurements are at the end of the post, but first, check out what you need to know about these fantastic four:

  • Hummus: the base of this delicious dip. Use your favorite!
  • Fresh spinach: I chop it in small pieces so there’s no big leaves on the dip.
  • Shredded white cheddar: we want this dip super cheesy!
  • Creole seasoning: you can also use Italian seasoning.

How to Make Warm Spinach Hummus Dip

This dip is perfect for entertaining or just serving it as a snack. You can combine the ingredients quickly, and the oven does the rest. Check out how easy it is to make:

  1. Prep
While the oven preheats, chop the spinach into fine shreds.
  2. Combine
In a small casserole dish, combine hummus, spinach, half of the cheese and seasoning. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
  3. Bake
After 20-25 minutes, cheese will be melted. Serve with pita wedges, and enjoy!

What to Dip in This Hot Hummus Dip

I have to admit that a few times I’ve cut up a bunch of veggies, toasted some pitas, and gone to town in with this dip… for dinner. One family meal everyone enjoyed and no one complained. Aside from pitas, we also love to dip my homemade cheese straws or these cheese crackers!

Veggies are another favorite: baby carrots, celery sticks, snap peas, green beans, or Buffalo cauliflower bites!

I’d just make my own hummus and use that. It’s cheaper and you can control the ingredients! But otherwise – looks interesting!

The recipe looks yummy and I can’t wait to try it. I will choose a different brand of hummus though, an organic kind, to avoid GMO’s and non-organic ingredients.

Of course, you are free to choose the brands your purchase as the ingredients to any recipe.

Christa, the beauty of this recipe is that you can use any flavored hummus. Recently I tried it with Sabra’s garlic hummus and OH MY! totally kicks it up a notch!

Do you use any particular flavor of hummus or just plain?

Yummy! I love the idea of ‘stretching’ my hummus to make other dips! So much healthier than just sour cream and cheese!! Can’t wait to try this!! Gonna bring it to my quilt group on Tuesday!:)
