This healthy side dish is perfect for busy weeknights and it pairs great with all of your favorite proteins. Grab that frozen broccoli and let’s roast it!

Can You Roast Frozen Broccoli?
Using frozen broccoli to make a healthy vegetable side dish is one of the best dinnertime hacks out there! With today’s simple recipe, you’ll transform this vegetable and say goodbye to your steam-in-a-bag routine.
Roasting is my go-to method for cooking frozen veggies because the oven’s heat makes them taste so much better. All you have to do is toss them onto a baking sheet, drizzle with oil, and season them well.
It’s a super convenient vegetable because it’s already pre-washed, chopped, and ready to cook. Plus, the roasted frozen broccoli florets will have those slightly charred edges you love with the tips in this post.

How to Roast Frozen Broccoli
For a perfectly crisp and never soggy texture from your roasted frozen broccoli florets, follow these steps.
- Prep
Preheat the oven to 450F and separate any frozen clumps of broccoli. - Season
Spread the florets onto a large baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and season with your choice of seasonings. Toss to coat and roast for up to 25 minutes until you see those golden-brown edges. - Dish up!
Remove the broccoli from the oven, and watch it disappear.
Watch this 2-minute video to see how delicious roasted frozen broccoli can be.
Best Temperature to Roast Frozen Broccoli
When roasting frozen broccoli by itself, the recommended temperature is 450F. The excess moisture will quickly evaporate at this temperature, and the broccoli will get that bronzed glow and flavor you love.
If you’re roasting frozen broccoli with another protein, like in this Sheet pan Salmon Broccoli recipe, you’ll want to cook it at the required temperature for the protein.
The reason you cook veggies at the temperature marked for the protein is that they’re much more forgiving in the oven and won’t dry out as quickly as chicken, pork, and fish.

Preventing Roasted Frozen Broccoli from Getting Soggy
For best results and to prevent sogginess when roasting frozen vegetables, like today’s broccoli recipe, you’ll want to follow these easy tips:
Use oil and seasonings
Oil helps crisp them up, and the seasonings do what they do in making each bite super flavorful.
Give them space
Spread the broccoli onto the baking sheet, leaving room between each piece. Crowding florets together will cause the broccoli to steam and lose any chance of developing that delicious roasted flavor. You should be able to see the bottom of the pan, if not, roast two pans.
Start with a HOT oven
Wait for the oven to finish preheating before you put the baking sheet in.
Cook at HIGH temperatures
Oven temperatures between 400F and 450F will help evaporate the moisture frozen vegetables contain as well as any excess liquid that drips onto the pan. This helps achieve a crisp texture.

How to Season Broccoli
You can season frozen broccoli before or after roasting, but before is preferred since some spices can be enhanced when roasted. To do this, toss the frozen broccoli with one of the following seasonings and a little olive oil in a large bowl or directly on the roasting pan.
- Roasted Vegetable Seasoning: my own combination of onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley, and paprika. Use 2 teaspoons of seasoning with ½ teaspoon salt.
- Curry Seasoning: a blend of warm and sweet spices like turmeric, cumin, ginger, black pepper, and garlic. Use 2 teaspoons of seasoning with ½ teaspoon salt.
- Garlic Parmesan: garlic powder, salt, and fresh black pepper before roasting and sprinkle the grated Parmesan on the broccoli after roasting.
- Creole Seasoning: a mixture of paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, granulated onion, and herbs. It’s a must! Use 2 teaspoons of seasoning with ½ teaspoon salt.
- Pesto: bake the broccoli with salt, pepper, and oil, then toss with 2 tablespoons of your favorite pesto after it’s roasted.
Storing & Reheating Leftovers
Leftover roasted vegetables make the perfect side dish or even the perfect roasted vegetable salad. Once cooled, save leftover roasted frozen broccoli in an airtight container and refrigerate it for up to 3 days.
To reheat, transfer the florets to a microwave-safe dish and microwave for up to 2 minutes. The broccoli won’t be as crisp as it was from the oven, but the flavors will be there!
