Can You Put Raw Oats in a Smoothie?

Yes! You can put raw oats directly in the blender when you make a smoothie, without needing to soak them.

Whether you use rolled or quick oats, they will combine with the milk and the rest of the ingredients, giving the smoothie a creamy, thick consistency.

Benefits of Oatmeal Smoothies

Smoothies are a great vessel for nutritious ingredients, including oats! Due to its neutral flavor, oats go great with all kinds of fruit smoothies, add a thick texture, and provide extra fiber, vitamins, and minerals in a quick meal you can sip everywhere!

Since you don’t need to cook or soak the oats, smoothies with oats are a terrific breakfast you can blend in a minute and enjoy at home, on the go, or pack for school or the office. Easy, quick, and nutritious!

If you want to meal prep breakfast and still enjoy the oats + milk + fruit delicious combo, check out these tasty overnight oats recipes.

Ingredients

For today’s recipe, I’m using peach because my family loves this flavor, but you can make your smoothie with oats and any frozen fruit you like. You’ll find the amounts at the end of the post, but first, take a look at the simple ingredients:

  • Milk: dairy or non-dairy milk.
  • Oats: rolled or quick oats work perfectly on smoothies.
  • Cinnamon: adds delicious flavor!
  • Frozen peaches: or any frozen fruit you have around. Fresh peaches also work!
  • Ice cubes: for a thicker, frosty smoothie.

Oatmeal Smoothie Texture

You’re going to love the creamy, thick texture you get when you add oats to smoothies! The blender cuts the oats and mixes them with the rest of the ingredients, so you barely notice they’re there.

How to Make a Smoothie with Oats

Even on the busiest mornings, I have one minute to press the button and make this smoothie with oats for a quick and nutritious breakfast everyone loves sipping! Check it out:

  1. Combine
The secret to a thick oatmeal smoothie is to place the ingredients in the blender from liquid to solid: first milk, then oats, and frozen fruits and ice at the end.
  2. Blend
In about 45 seconds, the oatmeal smoothie is ready to enjoy!
