Smoothie freezer packs make getting your fruits and veggies super convenient. Instead of pulling out a bunch of bags every time you want a smoothie, you just grab a pack, add liquid, and blend. So easy!

Smoothie Freezer Pack Formula
Use this simple ratio to create your own freezer packs with whatever fruit you have on hand.
- 2 cups fruit
- 1 cup greens
- 1 creamy ingredient like banana, mango, avocado, or ½ cup yogurt (yogurt added when blending)
- 2 cups liquid (added when blending)
- Optional boosters: protein powder, chia seeds, flax, oats, or hemp hearts
How to Make Smoothie Freezer Packs
- Fill the freezer bags.
Add the fruit to each freezer bag first, then the spinach on top. Press out as much air as possible before sealing. - Label and freeze.
Write the flavor and how much liquid you'll need on the outside of the bag. Freeze the bags flat, then stand them upright like files once frozen to save freezer space. - Blend when ready.
Empty one smoothie freezer pack into a blender. Add about 2 cups of your favorite liquid and blend until smooth, adding more liquid as needed. - Enjoy.
Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately, or pour into a travel cup for breakfast on the go.
Don't freeze the liquid with your smoothie ingredients. I also leave out protein powder, chia seeds, flaxseed, and nut butter until blending because they stick to the freezer bag and blend better when added fresh.

Laura's Tips for Smoothie Freezer Packs
Yes. Fresh or frozen fruit both work well. If your fruit is already frozen, simply portion it into freezer bags so it's ready to grab and blend.
Yes. Frozen spinach is much more compact than fresh, so you'll need less. For one smoothie, a small handful is usually enough.
No. Always add the liquid when you're ready to blend. This keeps the freezer packs loose, easier to store, and easier to blend.
I leave out protein powder, chia seeds, flaxseed, oats, hemp hearts, yogurt, and nut butter. Add those directly to the blender when you're making the smoothie.
For the best flavor, use them within 3 months. Press out as much air as possible before freezing to help prevent freezer burn.

Okay so I froze some fresh spinach leafs(full spinach leafs just minus the stems) for some smoothies and I am so confused because everything I see says to put 1/3 cup of frozen spinach instead of 2 cups fresh spinach and I am not sure how to measure it out now and follow recipes with frozen spinach in them
Any help on this would be much appreciated I really want to make this smoothie and I just don’t know how to measure out frozen spinach lol thank you in advance ☺️
MOMables-Laura says
Hi Kaysy, a handful of frozen spinach should do.

Ok, so there’s some truth to the 1/3 theory but not necessarily 2 cups fresh = 1/3 frozen. The ratio is more like 1/10. So… if you’re making freezer packs and want to use frozen spinach, and there are 4 servings for the smoothies, I would add about 1/4 cup. It’s not a science it’s “more or less” I hope this helps.

Ok, love all the the idea’s and really into the freezing, a blended smoothie then putting them into freezer bags did great that right? I hope so doing that today I have a big bag of kale that needs to be used and celery
And apples a stalk of ginger here’s my questions do I have to peel the ginger or can I just wash, and cut them up add to the ninja I have and then freeze into freezer bag’s? Also have carrots, and bell peppers, all can be added? Also hemp already Finley. Chopped , also chia seeds??? Can I add all of these???like the idea of the freezer bags it will freeze in a large cube, how do I then get it into my blender, can’t just throw a large frozen chunk have to broken,
MOMables says
Veronica, I put everything raw and chopped in the zip bag and store in the fridge. THEN, when you need the ingredients for a smoothie, all you do is add them into the blender and add your liquid. I hope this helps! 😉

How many calories is one serving?
MOMables says
This will vary by the ingredients you place in the bag.
